ORICO SATA Docking Station

I purchased the ORICO SATA to USB 3.0 flat docking station to supplement one I already have from another brand that seems to no longer be available. I've been satisfied with ORICO products in the past, and this flat docking station did not disappoint. Works great. It does seem a little lighter and less robust than my older one, the power adapter is a multi-region style with the US plug installed, and the power cord is thinner and shorter, but the most important features, and compatibility and performance, are everything I wanted. I especially like this style of dock for the easy access to change drives, that it is more stable than the "toaster" style, that it fits perfectly and securely on top of my computer case, and that the power switch latches on or off.

Bought this item to be able to review and evaluate several SATA hard drives on the shelf. Very simple to use, just push the drive in the docking station, plug the USB into an available port, push the on button and the drive is instantly recognized by the PC. The contents (if any) on the drive can then be evaluated, erased, additional files added, whatever is required. Certainly worth the money (not expensive at all) and perfect for the job needed. Recommended.

This unit runs very fast, is reliable, & performed flawlessly. My only dislikes are the slightly larger footprint on quite busy desktops & it only accommodates a single HDD, not two. The larger capacity HDDs of today negate this somewhat. However, many individuals use these units to copy one disk to another for backup or HDD replacement on a desktop PC. It is a personal choice. This unit's speed makes up for these short comings & it is compatible with the new 4TB HDDs.

Excellent product. Well made, with good fit and finish. I use Western Digital drives for back up, and the drives installed here spin down after no activity so they don't overheat. Good transfer speed when connected directly to USB3 port. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase and would recommend it to a friend.

It's low cost, so with that in mind, I really can't complain and I know it supports SATA 3, but the transfer rates I get on this with USB 3 indicates SATA 2 with 3Gbps, not 6Gbps as one of my other docks support and gives me close to 5Gbps on USB3, but it's OK for the cost of it and the main reason for buying it was that is not a dust collector as my other two docking stations are with open for drives on the top instead of this from the side. My only regret is that I did not get one with eSATA connection, but it does what it is designed to do, just a bit slower than expected.

To ORICO I say, "Well Done". First I must compliment the great packaging. Well thought out and easy to unpack. As for installation, it's just plug it in and go. I'm using this on an old VISTA OS machine which only had 300GB storage. I salvaged a 1TB from another machine which had the mother board die. So, the product was perfect for the task.

Not a good design at all. While I got this to work in one of my drives, the low profile of the connections inside the dock makes it useless for other brands/types of drives. I've got two that just won't fit in due to a thicker drive incasing. It'll slide into this dock, but misses the connection because it's off vertically by about 1/4 of an inch.

Super easy to use. It's like an external disk-drive, but for your old hard drives. I used this to provide additional storage on my 1 year old xbox. Added 500GB with ease. xbox even picked up it's presence and directly incorporates the drive space into the 'available space' calculation.
