Mocambo is a small canopy, fast growing tree and can be very productive. Usually grown as an understory plant in rainforests of Central and South America. Theobroma bicolor is an interesting species of cacao that has ethnbotanical features very different than regular cacao. Theobroma bicolor is a completely different shaped tree than Theobroma cacao. Theobroma bicolor, called Pataxte in Mexico and Guatemala, and Macombo in Brazil. Theobroma bicolor is indeed used in the to extract its butter fat in order to supplement or compete in the market for cacao butter or cacao butter alternatives.
