The spoon type are better in my experiences.

Excellent tool and you can't beat the price.
I purchased two of these for mounting small tractor tires. However, these tools are very durable and would also work well with much larger tires. They are smooth and feel good in your hands. You cannot beat the price, even for two, as compared to these tools that are already sold in pairs. When I purchased mine, they came with free shipping under Amazon Prime.

Finally found out what this thing is
I found one of these on the floor, have no use for it as a tire spoon/iron.... but it makes a phenomenal bottle opener
