The media could not be loaded. This Ylu Yni box kalimba is made of koa (acacia), which is a beautiful almost prismatic wood. The tines on this kalimba have a really nice curve that’s a bit higher than some. This extended curve makes it easier on your fingers and joints to play, as you can get a more natural angle to get a full tone.On this Ylu Yni box kalimba, all tines resonate and the high E isn’t tight at all, which is a bit unusual. It resonates and sounds fully, just as it should. This kalimba was easy to tune.As with many of the kalimbas on Amazon, this kalimba did not include an EVA case; just a velvet bag. I keep all my kalimbas in EVA cases and buy the Tehillim or equivalent case to store them (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B089ZZ56DF).The notes are engraved on the tines. It does come with stickers for the tines so you can customize your own layout, but it didn’t come with any letter or number stickers, which is unusual. It also did not include a tuning hammer, which I have never encountered before. Hopefully it was an oversight, and since I have zillions, its absence was not a hardship for me. The kalimba also comes with a music booklet, colored stickers, and a cleaning cloth.Overall, this is a very nice box kalimba in an average set. You’ll want to add a better case for sure, and a tuning hammer if you don’t receive one.If you live in a dry climate, be sure to use almond oil with vitamin E (such as this one: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CHTX1AS) to keep this kalimba from cracking. I found out the hard way that koa / acacia wood does not like dry climates and discovered that koa / acacia wood is known for that intolerance.Don’t forget to wipe your tines every time you use the kalimba, as the oils from your skin will corrode the metal tines if you don’t.Overall, very pleased with this very nice koa / acacia Ylu Yni box kalimba.As the parent of kiddos with autism, there are causes near and dear to my heart. This is only my second Kalimba, but to me, it sounds high quality and feels great in the hands, even after using for a long time. When I saw the deer design, I just had to have it, and I'm so glad I got it. Love the wood color as well. This is now my go to Kalimba.

So some things I noticed while using this kalimba.Tuning: download apps, two apps are suggested which feels odd. It doesn't state if the apps are affiliated with the company who made the kalimba.The manual covers a lot but it's not comprehensive. It also has a number of misspellings which can be annoying. The manual talks about 3 different kinds of kalimbas 17/20/21 Key kalimba but it comes off as vague. There are about 2-3 songs suggested in this which were useful for trying it out.It comes with a bag but it's not necessary if u keep it in the box. The bag itself is fine, acceptable quality.The thumb guards are good for protecting your fingers but if your hands are big it's not gonna be too great.The kalimba itself has piano keys notes etched on each note for reference. It has two holes in the back to make a warbling effect and comes with a cloth to clean the keys.Overall, it's nice just the instruction manual bothered me most.This was a product i received from Amazon vine program, in exchange for an honest review.
