Great fishing pole, ruined by poor packaging
Shipment arrived with ripped flimsy box that was entirely inappropriate for shipping such a fine piece of graphite and cork. The broken tip of the rod was visible through the torn box end. I refused shipment at the street and expect a replacement in about 10 days...so says Amazon. Guess the fish are safe for a while. 5 stars because I already own one and it is among my favorites. Perfect combination of price and performance. I use 6lb Trilene XL in a Shimano Symetre 2500 rear drag. Very light and sensitive rig for fighting fish, not great for just setting the hook and yanking them in the boat. Pole has the backbone for a strong hookset with a long line out but still bends well to keep the pressure on. I typically use this on 40 to 60 foot lake bottom structure jigging for smallies. I even landed a 24lb Striper from a kayak with this setup. Shame to waste resources simply because of of poor packaging. Fuel, cardboard, fishing pole, all wasted.

Awesome St. Croix Rod
I have the 6 1/2 ft ultralight model and it is a dream to fish with. It's worth every penny. I highly recommend it if you're looking for an ultralight rod, especially for panfish or whatever you going to use it for. It's high quality.

By far the best rods out there! St. Croix rods are the only rods I use. Period.
These are Amazing rods! St. Croix Rods slogan is "The Best Rods on Earth" and I truly believe that. I have been bass fishing since I was very young and I have tried many different rods over the years but I only buy St. Croix Rods now. My dad is in his 60's and he has been bass fishing since he was a teenager so he has tried numerous rods and he also only uses St. Croix rods. The Sensitivity is amazing in these rods. you can really feel the structure on the bottom when working your lure and you can really feel it when you get a bite! The Triumph Series is also a great rod and is about $40 less than the Premier. So if you are looking for an amazing rod under $100, go with the Triumph Series for only $80! If you have the extra cash, go ahead and get you a Premier. But either way, you will love your new St. Croix rod and never want to use another rod again. Their Bait Caster rods are great as well. They pretty much have a rod for any style of fishing whether it is Inshore saltwater or fishing freshwater lakes and rivers, you can find a St. Croix rod for whatever fishing you do!

This company does not honor their warranty.
I cannot recommend this rod or this company. On the very first use, I caught a gaff-sail catfish in the Gulf. Less than 5 pounds. The rod snapped. This was my first use of the rod. I went to the St. Croix website and followed the instructions for a warranty claim, up loaded the required photos, and completed the form. I got an e-mail response with a warranty claim number. But there it ended. I called the 800 number they gave and requested a call back. No call ever came. I called back and waited in line, having to hear innumerable repetitions of ads touting their product. After an hour and 6 minutes, the call was just disconnected. Despite this being my 4th St. Croix rod, I will never buy another product from this company as they place zero value on their customers nor, apparently, on their products. They are a poor value for their high cost.

Good!
It was great, very sensitive on crappie’s bite. I got a lot of more crappie with it compared to my ugly fishing rod, although both are light weight response.

Great rod
Amazing feeling rod! My pole was exactly as described. Caught a few nice rainbow trout first trip. Only reason for the 4 star is because of the lack of protection during shipping. Luckily my rod has no damage.

Great rod BUT..
GREAT ROD but when Amazon ships they don't use a cardboard tube like St Croix does so..., when you order a 7'6" rod with zero cardboard guess what.. It comes with some damage. Bent eyelets etc .. Hope fully Amazon with figure this out and start shipping any fishing rods in a cardboard tube. Have had same results with other brands too. These rods are awesome,IF, big if you can receive it unsaved.

Been out of the sport for a long time
I have to tell you, just like every other sport out there, technology and knowledge is necessary for success. I’m 58 years old originally from Colorado and now living in Maryland for at least 35 of those years. I haven’t picked up a rod and reel since I moved here. Just a different style of fishing here than I’m used to back in Colorado. I’ve had a huge lifestyle change and thought why spend all your free time on the golf course when I can do something else. My future son in-law said Maryland/Pennsylvania has good lake and stream trout fishing. Well after hours upon hours of research and reading reviews I decided on the St Croix rod. Truly the main reason for purchasing is that it is made in the USA by a small company and their dedication to making your enjoyment of the sport. Oh and of course all the outstanding reviews and photos. I haven’t used it yet as I’m still waiting on my reel and for the season to come back early spring. By that time I will have everything. I will surely keep you posted on my first couple days of enjoyment back into fishing.
