I'f you've updated to Windows 10, read this review!
While needed to connect your weather station to your computer/internet I think this should be included in the "expensive" Davis line of weather stations.I purchased this when I purchased my weather station three years ago... All of a sudden, it stopped working. I thought, well, all things fail... so I eliminated all obvious reason, like loose connection, system needing a reboot.... I even ordered new one, thinking this unit was bad....After installing the new one ,and the same "dead" results, I started checking other things. As instructed, you should us the "USB" as the connection method. With all Windows, this was exactly correct. Well, with the latest Windows Update, November 13, all of a sudden my weather station stopped reporting to my computer and to Weather Underground.I knew that I could not have two bad units all of a sudden!!!! So, I started testing all of the options for data connections and finally found that Windows 10 had changed my data from a USB to a com port... 5 to be exact on my system!!!So, before you do as I did and buy something you didn't need, try a different communication method.I hope this saves at least someone some money.

Now You Can Watch Much More Than the Sky
If you are at all interested in the weather (who isn't?) and you own or are considering a Davis Instruments Weather Station, this product is for you. With the included cable, it easily plugged into the back of my Vantage Pro2 weather station console and connected to my computer. The included software allows data logging including: current conditions, charts, graphs, plots and more so I am able to store, view, analyze, export and print weather data collected by my weather station. The instruction are thorough and set-up is easy. The on-screen "Walkthrough" steps you through the configuration process. On-line help is also available. Parameters for the charts, graphs and plots are easily set, simple to understand, and viewing them is quite interesting and fun. I've had the WeatherLink for 2-years and it has performed flawlessly. All in all, this product and software is well-designed, easy to install, and a "must have" for Davis Weather Station owners.

A bad combination of factors.
After 'installing' the data logger, I was unable to complete the registration and subscription (optional, for-fee service) because of issues with the registration interface, so a call to technical support. They determined that the registration process belonged to marketing so would transfer the call after advising me of their computer systm problems, which could interfere with timely resolution of any problems. Indeed, the marketing department also was unable to assist because of their computer system problem and advised that I wait until after new year's to try again. While waiting for 'after new year's', I attempted to perform some of the setup but could not get their software to recognize that I was accessing the data logger from via a USB connection.Attaching the data logger to the Vantage VUE console is done in the blind: the connector is in a walled 'well', therefore you cannot see either connector as you attempt to locate the socket and press the data logger into the connector. This requires some estimation of just were (and when) the logger is correctly positioned for you to apply appreciable pressure to seat the logger in the connector. Having done that and receiving the message regarding the inability to find a USB connection, I tried four different USB ports with no success. I broke and remade the USB cable junction a half-dozen times. In desperation—knowing the frustration previously experienced with inserting the logger—I removed it in order to attempt improving the connection by re-inserting the logger (removal is complicated by the small area in which to work, coupled with the effort required for extraction). I was luckier this time, was able to 'feel' the seating, made the insertion (which felt quite different than my previous effort), tried the setup procedure that had failed earlier which now worked as intended. I was able to establish a link with the sensor station and download data. Now, I'm ready to call back and see if we can correct /complete the registration and subscription.Once installed, the logger seems to make available large quantities of detailed data, which was a large part of the justification for this purchase.
