Apera Instruments PH8500-SA pH meter for highly alkaline solutions with GLP memory function and data output (pH measuring range: 0 to 14.00)

100% my new daily driver. I can now formally recommend Apera Instruments. Blue lab has always been awful, we all know that. Hanna has been far too inconsistent. I have purchased countless probes that come out of the box with completely dried up calibration solution. Clearly they care a lot about the customer experience as the pen style includes bottles with a fill line for the calibration solution, and obviously most importantly, a fully filled probe store solution cap. For home growers, the pen style is awesome. For commercial growers, it's also very versatile and useful for checking pH and EC of small batches of mixes like when preparing clone feed solution. This bigger meter (PC8500) is a lot more like my Ohaus meter in that it is happy to accept any of the many different probes they sell. Dissolved oxygen, redox/ORP, and obviously conductivity and pH. I also need the remote probe style for measuring my parameters in deep tanks, which the pen style meter is not ideal for. This is not a paid or compensated post, I paid my own money for these meters and can now without bias confidently recommend them to anyone looking to GTFO of Hanna or Bluelab without breaking the bank. FYI there is a handheld meter like the one pictured at a much lower price point that is more basic in features, but still has EC/ pH probes, still multi point calibration, etc. I chose this one for its versatility in probe selection.

I'm not sure if there is an issue with the internal calibration or what but this pH meter does not work. I recalibrate it constantly and numbers are still inconsistent with other pH meters.

Love this meter. Very easy to use, calibrate, and navigate. Have only had it for a few weeks, but worked perfectly right out of the box and hasn't needed another calibration since (verified by other calibrated pH meters). The rugged design of the meter with the rubber coated sides insures that it won't slip out of wet hands. Highly recommend.
