The bands have are stable once in place on your head. I say this with caution, I believe they may stay in place while playing basketball. I have run wearing one and it stayed stationary. But, running has much less intensity and movement (e.g., jumping, are lifting, etc.) than basketball. I'd say, if you will wear the headbands for more than just basketball, they worth the try. They are inexpensive and very nice and useful. So, once you try them with basketball and it doesn't stay as stationary as you'd prefer/need, you will still get good use out of them.
