Ethernet status lights, available power augmentation, less likely to overheat than some others
We ordered this item because another USB-Ethernet adapter we had been using tended to overheat over time and lose connectivity. It also has some better features than a comparable USB-C device we also use on a Surface, which doesn't permit concurrent use of its SD and Micro-SD reader slots. (Unlike that USB-C adapter, this USB 3.0 one lacks an HDMI video output, which is unneeded on our Dell because it already has one.) This is the first adapter I've ever used that has a full-featured RJ-45 jack, including the green connection and dataflow lights. One particular omission, which I corrected with an ultra-fine Sharpie, was lack of labeling on the three USB jacks. (The manual leaflet shows that the one closest to the dongle cord is a 2.0 and the other two are 3.0.) While I didn't test the feature, the MicroUSB jack adjacent to the Ethernet on the end permits additional power to be injected if there is insufficient USB power at the primary plug to properly service the adapter's entire device load. All in all, this is a very worthwhile addition for copying data from one format to another, or adding wired Ethernet to a laptop that lacks it.

Slim appearance, and does not cosmetically take away from a MAC
This is by far the best adapter for a MAC, or even a regular laptop.Pros:-Compatibility. The type 3 USB adapter gives you the option to remove it and it turns into a regular USB letting you instantly adjust it for a MAC or Windows laptop.-Heat. I’ve been utilizing all 3 USB ports, and the Ethernet port and it gets warm but not near as hot as I expected it too.-Internet speed. I wasn’t sure how the internet speed would be because it’s running to the adapter through a type c port but it substantially increased my internet speed. No difference as if it was hooked up to a computer directly.-Appearance. Not too bulky or wide, looks slick and one big thing for me I know a lot of others don’t care for. There’s no brand name on it. Utilizing an Apple product I didn’t want any adapters to be flashy or have their logo on it and anything to take away from the computer. This adapter is slick silver with no logos and matches well with my MacBook Pro.Cons: No HDMI port, but that wasn’t a deal breaker for me.

Good quality
I have no idea what "sheerness" has to do with whether or not this is a good product--how about reliability? And thickness is fine, but honestly not the most important factor. The fact is that these are more reliable than ones we found when shopping retail, but of course we find Apple connectors to be less than stellar and other retail stores here don't have great selections. We have two of these and have been fairly happy with them. I am in the process of buying a third for one of my kids who has a poor quality one she bought retail. These are primarily for the ethernet since we have a household member who gets headaches and insomnia from wifi, but of course for my college son it's a boon since his laptop has very few ports and he needs them for school recording, etc. ( music major)

Yes! portable hub with Ethernet port
While I enjoy the lighter weight of my new ThinkPad, I missed some of the features of the older, heavier ThinkPad. I was surprised that I missed the ethernet port, so I went looking for a USB-to-ethernet adapter. I'm glad I paid a little more for this hub instead of just getting a single-use adapter.I've now got a USB hub with SD card reader AND an ethernet port. The gunmetal case nearly matches my silver laptop. When I'm at the office, I can tap into the ethernet and get a faster connection than on wi-fi.This hub lives in my laptop bag to ensure I always have the ports I need on the go.

Cost effective but the status light is too darn BRIGHT.
So far so good this device works well. The only major irritant is a blindingly bright status light that I had to cover up with tape because it was so distracting. If there were a way to tell it to stop showing that status light that would be very very nice. But based on the price I decided to just put tape over it because I would rather pay less for something that works and perhaps in future they can make a product that won't try to blind the customers with their status light lol.

Works Perfectly! A great buy.
It works perfectly on my Dell Latitude 5400. It is lightweight and with a compact size. And the material quality is good, too. With this price, I think it is no doubt a good bargain. Also, the data transmission rate is fast. It works well when I play the HD video, no delay. I have tried other USB-C hub before, some of them will have the delay problem.Last but not the least, it won't become very hot when you use it for long hours. I have a hub that will become super hot and makes me worry and insecure.I am glad I found this good deal.

It works and it does what it advertise it does.
This product works great! Ethernet port and USB ports works flawlessly, even better than my old laptop ports to be honest, I bought two of these babies and they work perfect, they do get a little bit warm ( not crazy hot at all tho) but nothing to worry about .

A new necessity
It seems that the newer laptops with USB 3.0 and 3.1 have issues with older USB 2.0 devices, plus every generation omits more ports. This adapter gives you the option of USB 2.0 and 3.0 with a added bonus of a real Ethernet port and a VGA for older monitors. Works great! Excellent build quality, aluminum case. As a field service technician for critical systems this adapter goes where I go.
