Perfect doubles flares every time
I had also bought one of the cheap vice-held sets that wasn't fit for purpose. This, however, is a good quality item that produces perfect double flares every time. The grip holds the pipe firmly without damage and without needing to overtighten the nuts. The best thing is that all the critical settings, e.g. how far the pipe protrudes, how much the formers should be tightened down, are all controlled so no guesswork is required. Also, the formers are kept square to the pipe producing nice symmetrical flares - this is the big weakness with the cheap sets. Great tool and well worth the money.

Good value
For the money this is pretty good and adequately useful for the job.Fairly easy to use for a handheld type but I'm glad i didn't buy a bench mounted version. Worked well enough on the copper alloy pipes after a few trial 'ends'.When used in-situ on the truck it did struggle to achieve the force needed to put decent ends on steel pipe but did the job after a few attempts. If I was using this every day I'd buy a better one but for the price as a hobby mechanic its fine.

Great tool
Well engineered tool used on car to bubble and double flair worked a treat. Had to send 4 others different brands back as pipe just slipped back. This capri tool works great. Practice on bench first and if having to use on pipe on car plug pipe if you can and clean pipe to stop it slipping and you should be good.

Best hand held flare tool.
If you are looking for a hand held flaring tool to flare 3/16 steel or copper/kunifer pipe with either a double flare or bubble flare then look no further. This tool will produce perfect flares if used properly. I have bought a cheaper version on amazon before this one and it was absolutely rubbish. This one is great, all you do it screw in the locking bolt, slide your pipe in to but against it then tighten the 2x 10mm bolts to clamp the pipe down. Then if you are looking for a bubble flare, unscrew the locking bolt (17mm) and screw in the die with the OP1 side towards the threads with a bit of the grease on the end and tighten it up, then unlock everything and remove the pipe and it should be a perfect bubble flare. If you want a double flare then turn the die around after you have done the bubble flare and tighten the die then unclamp everything and you'll have a perfect double flare.Simply follow the instructions with the tool and you can't go wrong.

Works with steel pipe as well as copper - but no storage case
I bought this tool to replace a cheaper one from WODHMIEY that wasn’t fit for purpose.Although this tool by CAPRI is nearly double the price of the other one, it’s definitely worth paying the extra because this worked first time with steel brake pipe! The only negative is that there is no storage box with it, so losing the various parts is a likelihood (the cheaper tool did have a moulded case).

Brilliant bit of kit
I bough this to repair a brake pipe on my 41 year old VW. Both ends of the existing pipe had rounded off union nuts so i couldn't replace it without some serious hassle.I cute pipe in half and changed the cylinder at the same time, i bought a pack of unions and joiners and added a new union to the pipe still on the van and made another short pipe up and connected it all up. Works perfect and saved me a load of hassle. A bit expensive i guess but its superb, highly recommended. Far better than the type you need to clamp in a vice.

Impressive - makes great quality flares
This is more compact than the generic flaring tools you can buy -but engineered better. It produces lovely looking flares and needs less effort than the other tools.Don't make the mistake I made and take the die apart to put the pipe in, a threaded bush falls out and the tool becomes useless - put the bush back in place, reassemble the die and put the pipe in with the locking bolts slightly undone (as they instructions tell you to, durrr) and you're good to go!

Brake flaring tool
This is was my first attempt at replacing brake pipes. This tool made it really easy, created perfect flares on my first attempt. All installed with no leaks. Really good tool, highly recommend!

Worth Every Penny
I have had this tool for a while now and wanted to use it for a few different times to give and accurate assessment...well here's my story....For decades I have been using those cheap flare tools. The ones that come in the cheap plastic box (usually red in color) The ones where you clamp the tube in the hole between two die halves using the undersized wing nuts that you could never get tight enough to keep the tube from slipping. I've had to redo more flares with those cheap tools than i care to even remember. They rarely came out perfect, they were always slanted or not quite flared enough...but i do remember all of the skinned knuckles!! Just to get one good flare could take multiple tries and the better part of and hour. Well i had to redo the entire braking system on my old jeep. I was just dreading this job. So I got on everyones favorite video site and looked or a different way. There I found a video reviewing this Capri brake flare tool. I was impressed with the video so I ordered one. When it arrived i followed the instructions did a couple of practice flares. No kidding, they all turned out first try. I never knew it could be this easy. Once I got the hang of it i could do a flare in a minute or two rather than the normal 1/2 hour or so. I was able to unscrew the handle and place the body of the tool in my vise which made flaring even easier...it is near impossible to to use the cheap tool with a vise as the vise jaws are in the way and you also have to remove the tool from the vice and undo the wingnuts every time you started a new flare...With the Capri you can leave it in the vise until you are finished all of your flares!! ...and...you can use a wrench or a ratchet to create the flare rather than twisting with your bar hands on those other near useless cheap tools. also, this Capri tool appears to be made of hardened steel as my vise did not mar it up much even after being clamped tightly....Spend the extra money on this quality tool and forget the other ones even exist. You can thank me later...would recommend 5 stars.

Great Tool
Yes, Yes, Yes, finally a tool that works. I ordered two other double flaring tools and neither held the 1/16 inch tubing in place. This one works, very nice double flare on all the lines that needed one. Easy to use. in vise or hand held.
