And this type of XFISHMAN vise is really a good deal in this price section. After receiving, the first impression for me is very heavy. However, after I started using it, I found that the design was very scientific and clever . A heavy metal base provide a stable work space. When the fly is tied, I feel it is soft and elegant. In addition, the key components are made of pure copper, exquisite technology. And its design is very simple and easy to use. Jaws can be opened and closed through the pressure lever without turning the screw.Of course, it has some acceptable disadvantages, first of all, its packaging is very simple. Secondly, there are some lubricants like this maybe for ease of installation. It has added lubricating oil to most of the parts to prevent rust and help me set up.From the viewpoint of pragmatist, I feel it is perfect. All in all. It is very practical, is worth to recommend.

I love this fly tying vice. I never used a rotating vice before. This makes tying a lot easier. The base is the perfect weight. It is not too heavy to move around; but, it is heavy enough to hold the vice while tying.I especially like the spring loaded vice grip. It makes holding the hook very simple. I am amazed that such a good vice is so inexpensive.

Awesome quality, especially for the price. Would have expected to pay much more. Ive used it a dozen times with out a flaw. Everything held tightly. The coatings and quality is very good. I was worried when I first got it, the packaging made it look very cheap. The paint on the threads made it hard to screw in the base but nothing that caused any issues. The rotating head is nice you learn the sweat spot for how much to loosen the clamp otherwise it gets so sloppy is doesnt turn well but if you leave enough tention to hold it strait it spins nicely.

I like the quick release cam lever for holding the hook. It's strong enough to keep the hook seated but light enough you can easily work the lever with one hand and open the jaws. I'd give it 5 stars but it doesn't "feel" like a finely machined masterpiece for the price, especially when the cheapo starter kit is $40 at Cabela's with all the bits and goodies. For the extra cash though you get quick release for the rest of your life.I would have liked to have the clamp base as a bonus feature, but the flat table base is sufficiently heavy with the balance of the vise making it work well.Having used a cheapo vise for years, I would probably buy this again.

I was about to spring for a Regal vise when on a lark I took a chance on this because it looked much more streamlined and lighter than it is in the photo on the web. This is a knock off of the Regal, which is simple, unique, popular - but quite expensive (about $200 for cheapest one with the very valuable rotary function). The principle of the Regal is simple - the high cost is all in the material and manufacturing, which explains why this inexpensive copy is so rough, crude and heavy. It will certainly get the job done, especially with larger hooks, but I think there are better entry-level options (mostly cam-based ones) out there.

It it the best vice under the price of 150 dollars. The clamp works perfect from size 2/0 to 16, I test them all. I really like the design of the clamp. The hook almost impossible to slip. The heavy base makes fly trying a comfortable job. I used to have a120 dollar vise. That one totally lost by the half price and better quality of Xfishmen vise.

The base is nicely weighted and does not slip when I bear down with my thread on flies. functions perfectly for my needs. I tied trout and bass bugs. it worked great.I really like the rotary option as compared to my old vises. Very easy to use.The craftsmanship are excellent, and pretty straightforward.Great value and well built! I would recommend it to anyone who wants to tie flies. This is a great product.

It's a bit bulkier than my past vises but, it's nice. Holds hooks firmly, has a nice finish and base is enough to hold small to medium flies, when tying larger bucktails it tends to move a bit. The only Con is the rotating shaft wasn't machined well, as I rotate the head I have to keep adjusting the set screw because the shaft wasn't cut in centered.
