Austen Little Thinker

Okay. A few things I’d like to write about Miss Jane: 1) I’m a fan of her makers, 2) Miss Jane is one of my favorite authors, 3) I like the doll idea of historical figures way better than bimbo Barbie or musclehead GI Joe (although they’re an institution in their own right.) When Miss Jane arrived, I thought she was pretty cute and her tag is a great introductory salutation. Her dress is charming and her hair is very soft. She looks very prim and demure like a true lady of fashion. The only reason I am giving it four stars is because I had a higher expectation. I thought her photo looked a tad cuter (just a tad) and she could have chosen a better color for her bonnet (a nicer shade to match her pinkiness, no?) Other than that, cheers to the indomitable, romantic Jane!

Miss Jane Austen arrived at my home recently wearing a frock with a pink skirt, a crisp lacy bodice, and calico sleeves trimmed in lace. She also has elbow length gloves, which are not removable. The dress and her discreet bloomers are removable, so the doll and garments may be washed separately as necessary. Her silky brown hair is uncharacteristically short, but perhaps she had it cut due to illness. This is an adorable little rag doll and my second Little Thinker purchased from amazon. My seven year old daughter immediately attempted to set Jane up on a date with Will Shakespeare, but I had to explain that Jane is about two hundred years younger, so the match might not be perfect. I didn't even want to get into the Bard's marital situation! Overall, I am quite pleased with Miss Jane, and looking forward to buying my next Little Thinker- perhaps Queen Elizabeth, Socrates, or Gandhi.

These dolls are so cute! I saw the Virginia Woolf doll on Woot, ordered it, and went on a search for other Little Thinker dolls. I'm a 64 year old with no small granddaughters. These dolls are MINE!

The doll is darling. The position she was bound up in before packaging -- totally undignified. Very off-putting.

Great quality and super cute. The proportions on the picture look a little off but it was perfect in person. I feel better about giving my daughter a doll when it's a good role model!

I teach high school English and I have been collecting these Little Thinker dolls for years.They are well-made and dressed in the right time period clothes. Great conversationpieces.

Bought this for my daughter, who is named Austen, to introduce her to the classic authors. Though when she first opened the doll she called her a witch! Very cute doll!
