Pictures without Context
This review is for the paperback edition, which is a nice collection of World War II posters printed on slick paper. The problem is that the posters seem to have been copied from the Internet, so, they are sometimes poorly cropped and the lettering is often fuzzy. No translation at all is provided for the Russian (volume 3), German and Japanese (volume 2) posters. The British (volume 1) and American (volume 2) books are in English but there is no context, such as when the posters were issued or what agency printed them. The book is not curated at all, other than a 3 page essay at the beginning. So, is no table of contents, nor sections, like army recruiting posters, vilification of enemies, messages about food conservation or many other topics that could have had some background. So, if you want to look at pictures in print rather than on a screen and you're not too picky about the clarity of the image you might enjoy looking at these books. If you want a scholar to give you a framework for the historical, social and political context, then this would probably not be a worthwhile purchase.

Amazing collection
What a fascinating book. Fuller with history from a time when the PR machine was truly instrumental in the war effort.Lots of the slogans I heard as a child from my grandparents so clearly they did their job in worming their way into the British mentality.Really interesting book.

Great
This title was right up my street, I've always found propaganda fascinating and the artwork styles are really interesting, the 40s were in a lot of ways the twilight for illustrations as photographs took centre stage soon after. Whether you're into history or art, you will find this collection interesting.
