Exceeded my expectations!
I bought this one at a super price here on Amazon best price I could find anywhere to use with my Pro ID mini micro chips it has exceeded my expectations it has read every chip I have tried with it including the AKC and 9 digit avid chips even though it says it does not, it also scanned my imported from Poland dogs international chip I'm not sure what type of chip he has either it worked on the home again chips I scanned and of course the Pro Id chips as well!It is super small very easy to use I have had zero trouble picking up any of the chips I have scanned so far not missed a single one. I cannot imagine that the much higher priced readers could be any better and I'm not sure why they say it does not read Avid chips or AKC chips.I have started to chip my puppies before they go home to their new families and will update this review if anything changes in the future but I am more than happy with with this reader in every way. It came days before the expected delivery date nicely packed as well.[...] try this link if you need to look up a chip.

Wonderful scanner, great to have!
WORKS GREAT!After the recent spate of California wildfires we decided we needed to microchip all or the horses here at the barn. It just makes it easier to reunite people with their animals if they are hastily evacuated.Keep in mind this will not work with all chips- such as Avid and others- as stated in the description. It was great to scan my animals- Dogs, Cats and Horses- that we knew were already chipped and verify the chips were still there and working. It was also great to find that one horse had already chipped that we did not know had one.My friend who is also a veterinarian has taken it from me and is using it as she implants other peoples horses with Chips.Bottom line- great unit for the Money!

Works great for 10-digit HomeAgain microchip!!
My 10-year old dog has a non-ISO 10-digit microchip, that we weren’t sure of the manufacturer. We really needed a scanner that works for his microchip, since we’re moving overseas. Because his microchip isn’t ISO compliant, we’d have to bring our own scanner. The $50 Manruta scanner I got didn’t detect it at all. After research, we found that it’s a HomeAgain microchip (4A....), and a FDX-A one. This scanner immediately detected his microchip! Thankful that we didn’t have to buy the “universal” scanner that is over $200!

Must have for anyone in rescue!
I have 3 dogs and 2 cats of my own, plus 2 fosters for a rescue. I also help strays in our area find their way back home or find new homes when owners can't be located. I've been taking strays to an emergency clinic to be scanned for chips, but decided to try this one out. It picked up the chips in all of my pets, and they came from different manufacturers. I'm thrilled with this product, and it will same me time and gas in the long run. Very easy to use, and picks up chips in just a couple of seconds. Love it!

Works great!
I was nervous about buying a less expensive scanner. There are so many brands of chips that I was afraid it would not pick them all up. Someone brought me a dog because the shelter was closed and said she had no chip. The local emergency vet scanned her 3 times. I thought, "Why not?" and it popped up immediately! For the AVID encrypted I got a message that there was an encrypted chip and went to that same vet and they scanned and got the number for me.

Microchip scanner - Easy to use and reasonably priced
There was cat hanging out in our Balcony . I wasn’t able to to take it to the animal control/ vet to get it scanned for a microchip . I decided to buy this microchip scanner. The instructions were easy to follow . You just need to charge it with a USB cable . And easy to scan too . No software needed .We scanned the cat and it returned a 15 digit ID. It helped us return the cat to its owner ( cat had been missing for two months ) . The price is pretty reasonable too .

Read FDX-A chips! (And FDX-B but most do that)
The color is a hideous magenta pink but it was the only color that could get here with two day shipping- the important part is that this scanner is one of the few out there that does in fact read FDX-A microchips (10 digit)! I used it on my own cat who has this kind of chip to confirm that it does work for them. Great for if like me you are moving internationally and need to provide a scanner for the airport because your chip is not internationally compliant.

Awkward to use
Such a bizarre design so it’s a little awkward to hold it while you’re scanning the pet. Unfortunately, it does not read the nine digit microchip numbers so it’s kind of a waste.
