Sturdy rack, good price point. Good for occasional use; otherwise may want a rack that locks to car
After reading the pros and cons of fork-mounting vs upright (wheel-mount) I decided to go with these, figuring the mostly aluminum structure would last a while and the fork-mounting would secure the bikes well. I've used the product one time on a short trip, but so far it seems sturdy and the bikes are locked on firmly. My one concern, which I knew in advance of purchase, is that the fork mount only holds the traditional thin skewers/axles. That works fine for our family fleet of tourers and hybrids from years 1998 through about 2012. However, a lot of new bikes now have the much fatter through-axles (particularly bikes w/ disc brakes). So if i get a new bike I'll probably need a new rack.Vehicle: 2016 Subaru OutbackPros:-My big Cannondale Adventure 400 and my wife's Giant Sedona fit perfectly and are secured with front quick release and included rear hold-down strap.-Reasonable price, though not as inexpensive as some all-steel models out there.-No tools required, no customization needed for our Outback with factory folding roof rack.-Seems and looks solid for those worried about appearance.Cons:-May need to fiddle with how many spacers to use with each bolt. There are six bolts on each rack.-Installation, certainly the first time, might take up to 20 minutes for each rack. And sometimes it's hard to get those big wingnuts to thread properly given the awkward angle since the bolt is vertical and you may not have much space to install the wingnut between bolt and roof of car.-Very easy to have the spacers fall off the bolts before wingnut is threaded. I had two or three roll off the back of our vehicle. No biggie on a flat concrete driveway but can be a problem on gravel or camping.-It doesn't lock, which is okay for our needs. I can probably run a cable lock through the frame/tires and part of our roof rack. This may not keep the racks from being stolen but it would be a real pain to remove with bikes mounted. -Of course, it's nice to leave the rack on all summer if you use it frequently, but note someone can get a rack off in 3 minutes if there's no bike on it.-For any roof rack, it may take a little strength and height to put the bike on top of a car/SUV and simultaneously align that front fork with the locking axle (built into the rack). I'm over 6 feet but my wife is 5'-6" - no way can she use this rack w/ her hybrid. Might be different w/ an ultra-light tourer and a foot stool.

Total height from top of bike.
That rack it self was great and easy to mount on the roof rack. The overhang at bank drive ins and some motels is 8'. The height after putting my bike on was 8' 1 1/2". Guess what I did? If you carry the bike on your car this way, I would make sure the seat is all the way down.

Strong, Easy to install
Loved the ease of installation and simplicity of use. More carrying capacity than most others in this price range (44lb.).

Works best on flat / squared roof bars
Great quality & works great. However fits awkwardly on my stock roof bars because of their slight curve.
