The perfect deep-dive into video game Narrative Design
tl;dr: Whether you already know what Narrative Design is and want to jump in or are just now hearing about this new symbiotic specialization (writing + game design) from my crappy review, this is THE Narrative Design book to read.Having already been in the video game industry for many years, I found the book to be a little to easy/simple for the first few chapters (Read: great for anyone new to Narrative Design to jump right in). BUT once I started getting to the chapters that I really care about (i.e. Worldbuilding), I thoroughly enjoyed the rest of the book. Tobias, Toiya, Jennifer, and Ann do a great job of displaying multiple viewpoints through the book as well as giving thought provoking exercises at the end of every chapter. My copy has dozens of flags sticking out of it and dozens more annotations that I'm sure I will come back to throughout my career.

A wonderful resource for anyone with an interest in games
This is an amazing resource for anyone with an interest in games. The authors are leaders in their field and have included very detailed advice in this book. It also includes questions to ask as you develop a game, considerations for world building, character development, and writing dialogue. They even included several interviews with other game writers/ designers throughout, in a way that leaves you feeling ready to jump into the world of the narrative designer.Oh, and the book includes exercises to help you prepare your portfolio for the job application process, so you have no excuses!

What an amazing resource to anyone in games
What an amazing resource to anyone in games. This came recommended by Warren Spector as one of his books to read to understand more about game narrative. This is great for anyone who wants to know what being a writer for games is all about. It's also great for any game dev who wants to understand more about the process that goes into creating stories in games and how writers use more than words to craft the whole experience. With 4 different authors, you get a great view of how narrative jobs are different throughout the industry and some of the philosophies people have when creating a game's story and then techniques for making it happen.Read it if you want to understand what it's like to write for games.

All games writers and narrative designers should read this.
This book is so fantastically written, taking you step-by-step through the narrative design development process, your role and how to make yourself the most useful and utilize your skills within any sized team. There's also exercises in each chapter as well for practical learning.

Toolbox? More like a pocket protector.
I have no idea who is reviewing these books, this is very poor quality for the price. And it's small... really small. When you say Toolbox and the price point is $70+ you would think you would receive a textbook sized product with some insider knowledge. This was disappointing at best. Just a small collection of barely connected essays. Would not recommend to anyone.

Good tool for game writers
El libro se encontró en excelentes condiciones cuando lo saqué. Éste junto con Level Up y Art of game design son de los mejores libros que puedes tener para recursos de game design

Great tool (box)
First book that made me go "I need some post-its" in a while. The Introduction is very beginner friendly, but it goes into detail and gives interesting examples in subsequent chapters.
