Does not work well for people who work at a computer all day
The chair is beautiful, elegant and goes well with home decor. It doesn't look too officey. It was very hard for me to assemble by myself as it involved screwing in bolts that did not go in easily, while lying on my back trying to pull down on the back of the chair to get it properly seated. If I were strong enough to lift the whole chair by myself I could have done it upside down and then flipped it over when done, but this chair is very heavy. I recommend having two people available to assemble this. Once assembled, the chair adjustment instructions are WRONG. To adjust the back, you do not bring it to the top and let it slide down notch by notch. What you need to do is bring it to the top, let it slide all the way down, and then lift it up notch by notch. Most importantly, the back does not go up high enough for the lumbar support to reach the small of my back. I'm 5'5" so it should not be that strange to expect it to fit me. Instead it is too low, so I have no back support and will probably need to use a pillow to make this work. If it just went up about 3 more inches it would probably work. I am so disappointed. It works great if all you do is lean back and look at the ceiling.

The best executive chair ever
I have curvature of the spine and the attendant backaches, so I needed a really good chair that provides lumbar support. This "X Chair" is the best one I have found so far. The quality of construction, fit and finish are superb. It is ridiculously easy to assemble, so don't be worried about that. The chair provides very nice back and lumbar support. It is somewhat tricky to get the chair adjusted in the way that is best for you; it took me some trial and error. But the outcome has been great. My back is noticeably better and I like this chair so much that I bought a second one for my home office. By the way the chair looks terrific in both black or the Cognac leather. Both are beautiful. Great Chair
Purchased this chair as a gift. Chair is beautiful. It was not hard to put together but the directions were not clear. Terms and location of levers was very confusing. A tool to lock the height of the back was not included and I had to call representatives to get the proper wrench metric number to complete the task.

Good and Bad Points- Comfortable, but Bad Armrests and Some Poor Adjustment Features
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I would rate this X Chair X4 Leather Executive Chair in Cognac, 5 Stars for the beautiful leather, comfort, heavy duty and substantial chrome base and spine and ease of assembly, but I have to give this a 2- 3 Stars for the very cheap hand rests, and the rough seat and armrest adjustment mechanisms, which work, but which definitely detract from the more finely made and higher quality sections of the chair. Overall, I would rate this a 3 1/2, but rounded up to 4.This chair is heavy duty at it's base, and feels very solid to sit on. In contrast to some other office chairs I've assembled, this X Chair was extremely simple to put together and only took 15 minutes or so to finish, once out of it's protective packaging. The wheels snap onto the base, and you secure the seat on the vertical "gas lift" mechanism, by placing it on top and using the seat height adjustment paddle on the left side to raise and lower the seat up and down three times while sitting on it. You then fit the back section's two metal female connectors onto the associated prongs at the base of the "spine" and use the provided Allen wrench (nice big handle on the wrench for comfort) to screw in the provided bolts and washers. Finally, the armrests on this model are attached w one bolt/ washer set per each arm (other models seem to have two bolts per arm).Because this particular model does not come with a neckrest, only six of the eight provided bolt/ washer sets are used: four to attach the back to the seat, and two for the armrests.Maybe because of the single bolt per arm, the armrests are somewhat loose and wobbly, even tightly screwed in. They also feel very plastic-ey, light and cheap, sadly, and have no padding whatsoever. The mechanism to raise and lower the arms is a ratchet type of system, where there are no buttons or levers to engage, but you just manually pull the arms upwards, hearing clicking while you pull upwards (this is not smooth- you really need to pull up fairly hard, and it's jerky), and after the last click, if you pull far enough upwards, the entire armrest falls back to it's lowest position automatically, whether you want it to or not. The problem is, you don't know when that last click will be, so it's tough to know exactly how far you can raise the arm. Also, because there are no set positions in all those clicks, it's tough to know if both arms are raised to the same height. You can rotate these armrests about 45 degrees outwards and inwards with the same clicking movements, but it's also jerky and rough, and you can't lock them into a position, so they constantly move if you bump into them.Just for these lame arms, i almost lowered my combined rating on this chair to a three, but I can't deny the chair itself is quite comfortable, and the height of the back still provides good support for my 5'11" husband, even on this model w no neck-rest.Other than the armrests, this chair can adjust several ways. On the left side, there are levers for moving up and down, and for moving the seat forwards and backwards. The movement for the forwards and backwards motion is very rough, just like the armrests, except w no clicking. On the right side, there is a round knob which adjusts the tension in the back, so that it takes more or less pressure to lean backwards on the seat-back. There is also a lever on the right, next to the round knob, which allows you to lock the seat back into the angle you leaned back, to freeze it at that angle (or to prevent any leaning back if you wanted). All together, if this chair had smoother adjustment mechanisms and better quality armrests, i could give this a 5. As it is, and especially considering the very high cost, i'm not so sure I would purchase it.
