It offers a lot of good old basic stuff, but this book specializes in "Broad Pen" calligraphy, one of several, but the most popular, writing method. Nonetheless, many principals are the same. Many calligraphers really like what can be done with Broad Pen writing, and is easier to prefect than dip or oblique.

This book is very easy to read. Not only does it give the reader a brief history of calligraphy but it points out ways in which to utilize the your new skill. There are also plenty helpful tips on holding the pen and direction of strokes in the easy to follow illustrations. I love the way calligraphy looks and I'm intent on learning it eventually. This book is a great learning tool and so far it's doable.

From the Table of Contents it would appear to be very similar to other calligraphy books. It's different and superior because it has superb illustrations and pictures, indepth instructions, and the quality of the projects is outstanding. Work from well known international calligraphers are included. This book is a gem.

The best book for its price and a great tool to learn step by step from basic swirls to complex designs The font styles in the back make it easy to practice by replicating each one.
