worked well in a few days to stop tooth pain for a crowned molar
Overall recommended for pain of a crowned molar. Update July '23 - I am overdue to go back to the dentist (I should have gone back in January) but after using Sensodyne twice daily for 5 months (Sept '22 to Feb '23) the pain eventually went away and has not come back for 5 months so far. I still am unsure what caused the pain. Update February '23 - I finally made it to the dentist in November 2022 (the original review below is from February 2022). The tooth pain came back again in June 2022 and my experience was the same. I brushed twice a day for a week and the pain went away completely. But the pain came back for a third time in September. That time I experienced no immediate decrease in pain and only a small amount of relief after a week of using Sensodyne. I wound up brushing for 4 weeks which is the limit mentioned on the tube before a recommended dentist visit. My tooth pain was fairly constant for the next month and a half to my dentist appointment and I mainly chewed on the other side of my mouth. At my appointment I got x-rays and the dentist said there was no abscess and guessed there was no infection but maybe some lesser issue allowing the nerve to be bothered by hot, cold and chewing pressure. She asked me to keep using the Sensodyne for another 6 weeks until my next appointment. I had to cancel that appointment but I kept brushing with Sensodyne until a few weeks ago (February 2023 - about 6 months total use of Sensodyne). Now the pain is gone completely with no sensitivity to cold, hot and chewing but I still plan on going back to the dentist in the next month or two just to make sure the tooth is not infected with a dead nerve. -- -- (original review - February '22) I floss 6-7 times a week but I experienced bleeding around the molar and pain which had never happened before. The gums of one crowned molar bled a little when I flossed, at both the front and rear of the tooth. Around that time my tooth was aching a little when chewing and was more sensitive to cold and heat than usual. After a few days the chewing discomfort turned to a slight pain and the sensitivity got worse. After another few days I could barely bite straight down on that tooth which is bad for a molar. I thought I should try Sensodyne at least for a temporary fix until I'd get to the dentist in a month or two. During the first few seconds of the first brushing all my teeth became less sensitive to the cold tap water. It seems like there was some numbing agent in the toothpaste. After about 3 days of brushing once at night and once in the morning, I noticed I could bite more with that crown molar though it still ached. After the 5th day I didn't notice any aching even with chewing harder foods like pita chips. I stopped using the Sensodyne after a week and had no pain or discomfort even to today which is more than 2 weeks later. I will go to the dentist in a month or two but I was/am fearful of a root canal because the novocaine did not work well on this tooth when it was crowned. Imagine a root canal with little numbing! I can! I'm glad Sensodyne worked at least temporarily so far.

Gentle on Sensitive Teeth and Noticeably Improves Gum Health
Iโve been using Sensodyne Sensitivity & Gum Whitening Toothpaste twice daily for about a month now. My teeth are quite sensitive, and this toothpaste has helped reduce that discomfort significantly without any harshness. The formula is gentle but effective, and it doesnโt leave an overly strong mint taste, which I appreciate. What stood out to me is the improvement in my gum condition. After consistent use, my gums feel healthier and less inflamed, which was a concern I wanted to address alongside sensitivity. The whitening effect is subtle but definitely noticeable โ my teeth look a bit brighter without any irritation. Overall, this toothpaste does a great job balancing sensitivity relief, gum care, and gentle whitening. Itโs become a permanent part of my dental routine.

Gentle Protection for Sensitive Teeth & Gums
Iโve been using the Sensodyne Sensitivity & Gum Whitening Toothpaste every morning and night, and itโs been a real game-changer. I used to wince at cold drinks, but now, after less than a week, that sharp zinger is gone. On top of that, Iโve noticed my gums arenโt as swollen or prone to bleeding when brushing. It barely foams. The whitening aspect is noticeable tooโnot flashy, but it subtly lifts light stains so my smile looks cleaner. The mint flavor is mild but fresh, making it pleasant to use daily. And itโs a reassuring feeling knowing a dentist-recommended formula is working for both sensitivity and gum health. Itโs a bit pricier than basic pastes, but the relief and extra gum protection make it totally worth it.

A little chalky and very mild mint flavor
Overall, this toothpaste did the trick and helped decrease my tooth sensitivity, but the texture was chalky and the flavor was a little too mild for my liking. I want to feel really minty fresh and this left me feeling blah. No whitening changes after 3 months of twice daily use.

Dual Combo Works
This toothpaste works well for our sensitive teeth. It also polishes them well too without abrasiveness. Both are very important parts of our oral health. I will continue to buy and recommend.

Helps With Sensitivity
This is one of my momโs favorite toothpastes because it helps with her sensitivity. It also keeps her gums feeling calm while giving a nice whitening boost.
