This drag mat does a superb job of leaving the surface smooth. We use a mix of angulated (chip) sand and rich organic dirt in our arena, and rough harrowing leaves grooves. This mat flattens in out nicely. Easy to store, too, as you can just roll it up, which takes a lot less space than leaving it flat on the ground. As for dimensions, the short dimension (4.5') is in the width, and of course the long dimension (5') is in the length. So, your harrow width behind the tractor is 4.5'. It will hid the tire marks for a standard garden tractor or sub-compact tractor. The mat also has the tendency to accumulate small pebbles and rocks as you pull, then when you make a turn it deposits them in a group. This is not a bad thing! It makes it easy to get a rake and collect them! It's a good product for the money!

I use this weekly to drag about 300 feet of fine gravel driveway, behind a subcompact tractor. It works very well for that. It is light enough to do some of the relatively inaccessible areas by hand. And. I use it for my sand riding arena every month or so, just to get into corners and along the edges where my big arena drag won't go. UPDATE AFTER 3 YEARS: Still using it as described, and it has held up very well. I have acquired a UTV, but the wheels are further apart than on my tractor, so it leaves wheel marks when dragging my arena, so I continue to use my tractor. This drag mat has turned out to be a very useful purchase. I have another drag, a 4x8 chain harrow, but it is much heavier, and this one does a much better job smoothing and filling horseshoe divots in my gravel drive and sand arena. The heavier harrow does a better job breaking up manure piles in the pasture, this drag mat just floats over them and collects plugs of wet manure along the way.

I mow acres of pastures. I could not justify the prices of the more expensive drag mats. This drag mat works and would work well in many applications. But for pastures, where I NEED to break up manure piles and gopher mounds, it does not work well. It rides over the top of the piles of 80%. I will be welding small pieces of rebar to the front of the drag mat and I think that will work better for me. The price is great. And the heavy duty squares and great too.

Very pleased with the drag mat. Using it to topdress bermuda grass lawn. Have used it it with my zero turn and ATV leveling both washed sand and topsoil. Also useful for breaking up most of the clumps of soil after repeated passes. 100% satisfied.

I have never been happier to write a review. This thing is fantastic. I just rented an excavator for the week and did a lot of tearing up my property leaving ruts and torn up ground from the excavator treads. I bought this figuring I would use it for a final smoothing after we raked and shoveled by hand. But I decided to give it a try and the results were amazing. It smoothed out all the ruts like magic. Very well made. It weighs nearly 50 lbs. no assembly. Just unroll it and put the ring over the ball on my 4 wheeler. In this day and age, you expect things to be cheaply made. Not this product. Very pleased!

I’ve had this product for about a week & use it to drag my horse pastures & arena. I’ve been very pleased with the job it’s done so far. It smooths all the uneven terrain from horse traffic in the arena& distributes the manure piles in the pasture. I like that the drag rolls up when not in use & stores easily. The shipping was super fast. I was going to order this thru Tractor Supply b/c it was $40 less (same exact drag), but it showed being out of stock.

Its a well made and durable tool. I live in ne florida. It smooths the sandy soil here well.
