How To Solve The Rubik's Cube: The official guide to completing the world’s most famous puzzle!

My 10 year-old son just solved his first Rubik’s cube 5 minutes ago with the help of this book and insisted I write this review! He says it’s amazing because the book is very straightforward and easy to understand, and the Rubik’s cube generally helps with patience and perseverance. He adds that the book also has a nice section on the history of the Rubik’s cube.

This book has everything! It starts with the history of the cube and then shows some basic terminology, and then uses that terminology to show a simple way to solve it. Then it shows a way that experts solve it. Have you seen those kids who spend a minute looking at the cube, turning it over and over in their hands, and then they solve it in less than 10 seconds? I think this book provides the way in which they do it, but I haven't tried that yet. There are also some instructions on how to make cool patterns (see picture). My family had the original solution book from around 1980, which we lost or gave away. But I still remember the moves, which are different than either of the methods shown in this book. This modern book takes it to another level. Well done!!!

This book has all the necessary algorithms for solving the cube using the beginners method. Just be aware that there are a few "gotchas" that are easy to miss. I recommend reading each page *very carefully* before maneuvering the cube... maybe even read one page ahead. Ultimately though, this book got our son through solving the cube, then our daughter, then dad... and now we no longer need the book. Success!!
