A enjoyable, profane, rainbow/sparkle covered zombie horde murder spree.
If you are easily offended by "bad" words, turn back now. This is not the game for you. For everyone else: Lolipop Chainsaw is a very unique game. It combines the fun of mass zombie slaying, quirky stylish rainbow/sparkle effects complimenting the dismemberment, numerous references ranging from Monty Python to bands to zombie movies to internet, a fair bit of humor, a good bit of profanity and profane lines, a small amount of fan service, and a quite workable and fun combat system. They also throw in a fair amount of mini games to break things up. Somehow it ties this all up in it's satisfying rainbow sparkle package. Outside of the profane language used the only possible flaw I see is that the game is rather short. A weekend play could easily beat it, or a dedicated day for those with more time. Lets break it down now: Story: I rather enjoyed it. They embrace the cheesey and non-nonsensical nature. They poke fun at other movies and themselves as well. The story doesn't really take itself serious and yet it provides more than the "oh here are enemies to kill". It provides a source of amusement and character that adds to the game. Graphics: I've seen better but the graphics are nothing to sneeze at. Things look crisp and good. No slow-down was encountered and things played fluidly. The visuals from attacks and hitting zombies are amusing and well done as well as the zombies and environments themselves. Controls: The controls don't feel quite as masterful as a game like god of War or Devil May Cry, yet the controls are still well done. You'll feel yourself desiring to be a little more fluid at times, because chainsaw attacks leave you open for brief amounts of time, but you'll find the dodging to be more than apt at dealing with this. Also once you start unlocking more combo's you'll find this disappears entirely if you're using combos wisely. Clever additions to the game in control scheme add some control stick manipulation and button presses for finishing off enemies and some in game actions. They are never too difficult and go a long way to adding to the flavor. This is one of the first games that made me feel like they were taking advantage of the fact I'm wielding a bloody chainsaw!! Combat: Not too deep, but fun. Ultimately though somewhat simple the combat is just satisfying. I never thought I would enjoy spray the screen with rainbows, sparkles, and severed body parts/heads so much fun :). Make good use of the dodges and your chainsaws sweeps and you'll be fine. Profanity: Yes this gets it's own section. This game says some pretty lewd things and some pretty profane things. Overall I found them humorous and well paced, you never feel drowned in it and yet there is always another comment somewhere around the corner that makes you say "I can't believe they put that in there.". I have a fairly high tolerance for these kinds of things and while not offended I'm very surprised they added some of the things in there that they did. Still I'm kind of glad they did. The game has it's own quirky appeal to it, profane or not. Ultimately for many I feel like this may be a rental due to it being so short. But for those that like quirky games or zombies this is worth owning, provided you can handle a good share of profanity.

Hilarious, FUN game that doesn't take itself seriously
Such a fun game... - Likable characters - Hilarious dialogue - Absurd, fun story - Fun gameplay - Michael Rosenbaum voice acting the role of Nick This is an excellent bargain-bin game full of action, fun characters, zombies, dirty jokes...it's like a movie Joe Bob Briggs or Gilbert Godfried (or Rhonda) would've shown on TV. Nick (voiced by Michael Rosenbaum), the disembodied head/boyfriend of Juliet easily gets the best jokes and pretty much nails it every time he talks. There were points where I'd have to pause the game and laugh for several minutes at what Nick had just said. Graphics are decent, colorful, and the soundtrack is GREAT, full of classic songs like "Lollipop" and "Mickey". It's a shame the SJWs complained about this game as much as they did and gave it bad press, because it's really underrated. You even get a trophy for using the camera to look up Juliet's skirt - the game knows what it is, laughs it off and isn't ashamed of it. Anyway, for around $15-$20 it's totally worth the price and if you're the type to do multiple playthroughs, the game more than pays for itself with all the fun you'll have.

a bubblegum fun ride of a game
i didn't have a lot of expectations going in except i was happy about the rumored plethora of rainbows (and they are here!)! the game breaks you in fairly well...the prologue is an easy transition into new moves and combo practice. the one thing i found sort of frustrating right off the bat is that you could be mid-horde and the screen would stop to explain a new move or somesuch which sort of threw off the momentum. there may be some finesse in the gameplay, however this seems to be a button masher (more or less) if i've ever seen one. and honestly, the game moves pretty quickly and is enough fun that most tediums are forgotten pretty quickly. several times i found myself saying "i will play ONE more level..." and then i would see two hours go by. sure there is loads of teenage boy humor, but given the title of the game and the style it was made in (not to mention suda51's input) this isn't a big surprise. most of the jokes are fairly corny, but a couple of times i found myself snickering out loud. i DID feel the boss fights were tedious. honestly, how many times in a row must you kill someone? the one really bothersome thing was the length of some of the cutscenes and the subsequent load times. at this point in the ps3's lifespan, there shouldn't be an extensive load time for a cutscene. and then an extensive load time right after. for me, the breakdown was as follows: concept: pretty hilarious. there is a definite adolescent humor at work here. sometimes it works, other times it feels a little forced. graphics: i was a little disappointed. for a new release game, i felt the graphics were fairly poor, especially in the cutscenes. sound: several of the songs on the soundtrack are great fun to fight to, however some of the interim music is a little too thrasher for me, especially for extended periods of time. sound effects were well done. playability: i certainly found this accessible from the get go. i stumbled a bit, but the game is well laid out for the beginner. entertainment: great! i loved the excess of rainbows, silly moves, and especially SPARKLE MODE! as a female, i appreciate a game that is tailored to my rainbow addiction and video game ass-kickery. replay value: unsure...there are outfits and art to collect in-game, but right now i'm not sure i'd want to play this repeatedly. i will hang onto it for a while to see if i have the urge. all in all, i'm pleased i bought this (but i'm more pleased i got it on sale). for anyone on the fence, i'd recommend waiting until the price drops. it may not be a masterpiece, but it is a heck of a lot of fun.
