Generac 6515 GP6500E 6500 Running Watts/8000 Starting Watts Electric Start Gas Powered Portable Generator with Cord

I ordered the Generac 6515 on March 30th of a special sale for $570 including shipping and received the unit in perfect condition from Pilot in late April. Assembled the unit, charged the battery just to be safe and added the included oil and a couple gallons of fuel with stabilizer. The unit is NOT a pure sine wave but clean enough to test a portable a/c unit and three heaters that have silly computer boards for about 4000 watt load with little change in rpm. The only I see would be the noise level but I plan to build an enclosure for power outages in the future. The electric start is great and the pull cord was fairly simple to use. Taught the wife how to use the generator and made her move it using the wheel kit to prove she could do it without worry. With the wheel kit, you can change the oil with the use of a couple dixie cups with a plastic plate to eliminate any mess. The included power cord was used to handle the 30A load. However, IF you plan to wire this to your home, you need a transfer switch / critical load switch and an appropriate cord to connect the generator to the switch. I bought the four year extended warranty since I have had experience with Asurion via Home Depot and was pleased with the price offered for four years of extended coverage. Glad I pulled the trigger on the Good Friday sale at $570 as the same unit at the big box is now at $949. Be advised these are NEW units, but are 2013 models for engine compliance purposes.

This generator is heavy. Wheels, handle and supports must be installed, not difficult but you will probably need a helper (or two) to lift while you install. Battery came charged and generator started with one push of the button( oil & gas first): Has a back-up pull start, one pull did the trick.I have not used yet, will update later, well pleased so far.UPDATE: Power has gone out twice in past week for about an hour, despite having charged the battery ( I thought) it was dead, however, generator cranked with one easy pull. Generator is connected to a Transfer Switch Box, installation cast me $400 and the box $175 (on sale Lowes) but worth it. I'll update on getting the battery to hold a charge later.

So easy to start, even with the pull rope it starts on second pull. My 20 year old generator took about ten pulls to start. Of course this is an electric start which I purchased so my wife could easily run it. It runs fine under load as well as no load. Beautiful unit!Several years ago I purchased a name brand generator only to discover the engine was made in China. I never got more than 10 hours use on it when the carburetor failed. I was never able to locate parts for it. Junk!!What a difference this Generac is!!
