Always defaults to Celsius readouts
I purchased the Lerkoon Infrared Thermometer mainly based on the “Amazon #1 Best Seller” rating, even though at the time it had zero customer reviews. Subsequently, two reviewers rated it 5 stars solely on the basis that it was delivered. Talk about lowering standards! After reading the poorly written and totally inadequate instruction pamphlet, and then using the thermometer I am disappointed in the product. My major point of contention is that the device always sets to Celsius mode. There is a way to convert the Celsius readout to Fahrenheit by holding down the volume button for 8 seconds (not very intuitive). The bad thing is that the device doesn’t remember this setting, so the next temperature reading will in displayed in Celsius and then you have to again hold down the volume button for 8 seconds to convert it to Fahrenheit. The whole thing is a kludge. This device was advertised to also read the temperature of objects other than humans (that is, liquids, air, surfaces, etc…). The default mode (which the device always reverts back to) is human mode (which is not necessarily a bad thing). The instructions give no indication on how to change the mode from “human” to “object”. I only accidently discovered how to change mode this by holding down the lightbulb button for a period of time.On the positive side, the device did operate after installing the batteries. The temperature readings are extremely fast. The unit is reliable to plus/minus .4 degrees Fahrenheit. I don’t know how that compares to other manufacturers devices.

Seems to work well
Arrived sooner than expected. Pretty basic but does the job as advertised. Seems a little cheaply made for $100 but at this time I'm just glad to have it. Instructions are printed in tiny font and need a magnifying glass to read them! At least for my eyes anyway. Reads temperature in deg C and you have to press a button to convert to deg F every time. Wish it read directly in Deg F but it is what it is. All in all, it seems to work well.

Customs Hassle
Talk about a Customs Hassle, I had to fill out a customs release form to even get it into the country after two weeks. On top of that FedEX billed me an additional $38.50 on top of the thirty dollar shipping fee i paid for duty and for customs fees. That is almost the current sales cost. Product works but must reset to Fahrenheit degrees every times it is programed in Celsius .

TREIED TO CANCEL (ignored)
THIS IS MADE IN CHINA! tried to cancel immediately but they ignored it. It is not measured in fahrenheit so each and every time you use calculations are required. for those stuck with this it is C x 1.8 + 32 = F. Amazon again dodged their responsibilities, kept referring to manufactures site. This is beginning to occur much to often. I have been a prime member but beginning to consider my membership. Plus more and more prime does not equal free shipping!

RIPOFF
Paid $99.99=$20 processing fee then I received an invoice from FEDEX for $38.50. I thought the $20.00 was a little high but another $38.50 is ridiculous! Also, the default is to C* so it takes approximately 7 seconds to see a reading in F*.
