Covers up the mat edges
After I laid down the Dynamat I leaned back on the wheel well of our van and felt a sticky pull. The edges of the mat are sticky. And since the wheel well will be inside of a storage box I didn't want anything to get any sticky on it. So I covered all of the edges in areas where something could come in contact with the mat.

Do your research, negative reviewers...
I will agree on one thing with people giving this product negative reviews: yes, the title of the product as listed on here is somewhat misleading, and it shouldn't use the words "sound deadener."That being said, Dynamat has a website where you can search all of the products they make: use it to make your decisions on Dynamat, Dynaliner, Dynaplate, Dynapad, Dynatape, and etc. It's your own fault for not doing the research in advance. I consider it like I do the Crutchfield website: excellent for information, horrible for prices. Did you really think an aluminum tape would provide sound deadening qualities? No - it's a finishing product to seal off Dynamat's butyl from seepage, which it has a tendency to do - after installing it for years on-end I've seen it first hand.As per Dynamat's website: "DynaTape is a 2 mil aluminum finishing tape used with Dynamat to seal seams, attach wiring, contain unwanted butyl migration and give your project a complete, professional appearance."This product does its job, and creates an appropriate seal for the outer edge of where you're installing Dynamat to prevent butyl seepage. I'm very happy with it and if I need more while restoring my DeLorean's interior, I'll certainly order it again.

Will clean up your sound deadening job.
I have installed Dynamat in a few cars before. The edges of the material make a mess, especially on the floor boards of the cars when you are installing it and walking on the floor. That stuff gets on your shoes and then transfers over to your floor in your garage, house, or wherever you walk. I used this on all the seams and it works fantastic for this purpose. Looks great too, but your probably going to cover it up anyways.

Not enough
Small amount of tape for a roll

much cleaner install with this
Cheap, easy to use, and makes for a clean install. I highly recommend using this any where you are applying dynamat, as it seals up the seams nicely. They can be messy and razor sharp in places so the tape is a must. Know that there is no sound damping in this tape, it is just aluminum tape with the logo. My only complaint is that a roll does not go nearly as far as you may think, so buy a few if you are doing a larger area

Unimpressed
Very expensive foil tape that didn't stick worth a darn. It is just ducting tape with marketing printed on it, that you pay a bunch extra money for. Would send it back if I could.
