A must have for calligraphers and artists
Precisely what I wanted. Good selection of nibs. The wooden shaft is comfortable and well-weighted. The quill's feather was in good condition with a thick enough shaft to make writing simple. I used tinted ink first, and the nib was easy to clean to change colors. The box is well-designed and will be where I store all the pieces except the ink, which will go in my inkwell.

A great gift for pre-teens.
It's not a super fancy kit, but it's perfect for my 8 year old. She truly loved it as a gift and uses it often. The feather is really cute and after 2 months of use, no complaints of anything breaking or not working good.

Love!
Hello, My name is Miranda and I Bought this only a few days ago. I absolutely love this set, i read the reviews and I was worried that it was going to be in bad condition, but against my better judgement i bought it anyway. I was surprised, most of the reviews are correct. About only ONE Nib fitting into the feather. But I don't mind, it is extremely fun to write with, besides the feather and wooden pen being in.. fairly bad shape. I would still recommend this to others, but make sure they know that the product isn't that good of quality but still WORTH buying.Thank you for reading.

Understanding Which Nibs to Use with Which Piece is the Key!
The feather only takes two nibs, all the rest fit in the wooden pen. The two nibs the feather takes have a hole in the back (furthest from the tip.) I am getting this set for my nephew who is writing his first fantasy novel. The box is sturdy and has a magnet closure. It is designed to house the pens and nibs for a long time. Good box, looks great, I paired it with some parchment paper for Christmas.

Worth the money and the wait
This set actually comes with everything shown. 6 different tips, 1 feather quill, 1 metal clip to make sure the quill's front doesn't break when not in use, 1 wooden pen with its own tip, though this one is colored, not birch. It comes with 7.5 ounces of ink, which is a ton considering one dip all the way to the hole inside the tip writes about 60-70 words. All it needs is a manual because some of the tips, I have no idea how to put on...

Poor quality, but fun
I purchased this for one of my college classes (we're doing a little thing for Halloween and I decided it would be fun to dress as a Hogwarts student). After reading the other reviews, I figured it was one of the better feather pen sets on the market, so I decided to buy it.I'm going to be honest - The set feels cheap to me. I'm no newbie to nib/quill pens, so I know what I'm talking about when I say that the nibs were of poor quality. One was even slightly bent/deformed at the tip, making it unusable. Now, regarding the feather "pen" itself. It basically comes with two parts - The feather, and a finger grip. The feather is inserted into one end of the finger grip, and a nib is meant to be inserted into the other. Here's where our problem lies. NONE of the nibs fit into the grip (and I've confirmed, yes, they ARE supposed to go in there). Lucky for me, I'm handy with tools, so I managed to (poorly) fit one of the nibs in using a pair of needlenose pliers, and I have no plans to remove it/change the nib since it was such a hassle. The kit also came with a small bottle of a dark red ink. Loved the color, but the ink was a bit thin (nothing a bit of evaporation can't fix). I still plan on using this kit for its intended use, but I would advise anyone looking for a good quality feather pen to look elsewhere.

Excellent! My 8yr old son wanted to buy this ...
Excellent! My 8yr old son wanted to buy this with his own money. He thought it was awesome and has been practicing his cursive writing with it. Even my older 12 yr old son and myself have been using it also. Its fun and made very well. We had no issues with the ink...it is a quill, after all, and not a regular pen.

The worst thing I ever ordered
I just want to say that I've been ordering from Amazon for over 10 years now & this is the 1st time I've felt compelled to write a review.I had no problems with the delivery time per se. Firstly, I bought this as a gift for a friend but the plastic part of the cover was dented when I received the package even though it was in a padded envelope. For the sake of argument it could have been the courier. Upon opening the display lid I found what looked to be like a white mould growing on the black backing on which the pen rested and further more the color of the pen was not light brown as shown in the picture. It rather looked like that may have been the original color but someone tried to paint it over in black and missed a lot of spots in the process. So the black wooden pen is resting on a black background. The worst part is the feather - the feather looks dull, like a light fungus started growing. It seems organic and not plastic at least to add to the authentic look, but I had to wipe the thing off. Honestly, I'm from a country area and I could pluck a more healthy looking tail feather of a chicken in my yard. I expected a softer look to the feather. It seems like a plain pigeon feather, either way it's very dark. So the set is mostly black on black. I'm torn whether to even test the nibs as it's supposed to be a gift but I may have to toss it as the smell of the pakage is really old. The nibs seem to fit but the metal piece which covers the feather tip seems like an awkward fit to it.Trying to replace this might cost too much in shipping and I'm not in the mood to do battle to get back a few bucks. Either way I think I got the last one as the product is no longer available. Now I have to spend more time hunting for a gift. This was a waste of time and money. I just wish that merchants would be fair and responsible when dispatching products from their warehouse, in that if they realize it's been on the shelf for a while and it's white with fungus then have some integrity and don't sell it. One thing for sure, this merchant just lost a customer in me and the few people I know.
