Great for single swipe to mark out barcodes on boxes. We like that it's very fat, so only one pass works great. We've been using these for years and keep buying more. I don't know how long they last but it seems like a reasonable amount of time. Use these for making signs you want people to actually be able to read -- not the skinny Sharpie markers.

Great for broad and narrow strokes!
The Sharpie Magnum Permanent Markers with their oversized chisel tip work great for making broad strokes as well as narrower markings. My husband uses them outdoors to mark dates on stacks of our firewood so we know when stacks of firewood are seasoned and ready to burn.

These things are HUGE
I didn't realize how big these were, but they are huge. Magnum in every sense of the word (except the Tom Selleck one). A bit of a smell, but that's generally to be expected I think.
