The reply below is incorrect...if you were to look in the description at the pictures...5 & 6....on the backplate is an 'OPT' socket...and in 6, there is a toslink cable...hmmm

Are these speakers active? i have a rega planar 1 turntable. if i bought eg a project phono box preamp, would this set up work?

Think they've got a built in preamp. Got mine plugged straight into my audio technica LP60x
