Amerex B456 ABC Dry Chemical Fire Extinguisher with Aluminum Valve, 10 lb

I've had a lot of Extinguishers in past years & Amerex makes top notch products. I like this one! It's a little heavy, but I knew it would be, but I was putting it in my garage to protect my two classic cars I keep in it & I wanted a little bit more product for protection, in case of a fire. I have a 5lb one in my house near the kitchen, & one in each of my 4 vehicles. You never know if you'll need one, it's like insurance, you hope you'll never have to use it!!! By the way, this one is the 10lb model.

Something every house, garage or shop should have. You can't even visit your insurance company for the cost of a good fire extinguisher.

I would give this a 'zero star' if I was alllowed to.Package arrived intact but when we opened it, the handle & pin were damaged and the contents of the extinguisher had discharged inside the box.Amazon stated it was not eligible for return, and the online help system cleverly and efficiently sends you in a maddening and never ending loop of "non-help".Item suitable for paperweight only - Not for use with actual fires.

As expected. High quality metal valve rechargeable unit. Have used them several times in service. This one was a gift for my brother’s shop.

Did a lot of digging and research before buying this unit. We needed a 10lb hand held ABC to meet requirements for pit/garage use for an endurance racing sports car team. We wanted to use Halotron or another high tech high performance solution and we were willing to pay the price that comes with that performance. Sadly, most of those solutions are only BC rated, not ABC.As we are most worried about BC fires, we were VERY please to learn that the formulation of the chemicals used in this extinguisher make it far more effective on BC fires than most ABC units.In addition to the specialized, high performance price is only slightly higher than the price of far less advanced units.

I lived in Australia for a long time. When I saw 10lb I figured that it would be about 4.5kg, the size I wanted. Roughly 2.5lb per Kilo right? Wrong. Does anybody want to buy what I know as a 9kg ABC Powder extinguisher??You cannot return extinguishers, so make sure you get it right. The Ratings telling you the effectiveness of the extinguisher somewhat give a clue as to the size. Actually, the Rating is really all that matters.

After having a cheaper common brand fail, I wanted to try something a bit more professional. I did a lot of research and Amerex seemed like a great choice. There is no question these are built like a professional extinguisher! These are great and instil confidence. I haven't needed to use them and I hope I never do...but I certainly have more confidence in these over my past extinguishers. The build quality alone is unmistakably better. I ended up buying two more. One for the garage and one for my truck.

Completely discharged inside the package/box on delivery. It is not a returnable item so I’m stuck with a $100 defective item.
