Cute story, but a little long
The story was cute, but it kinda dragged halfway through and my kids got bored. It is just a little long for their liking.

Perfect! A Constant Favorite!
This is the one that my 4 and 7-year old nephews can agree on, always. The 7-year old can read it, and they both love the humor, artwork, and sentiment: they "get" the turtle's need for friendship. They love the crazy "pie" toppings that correspond with the animals. Enough fun detail in the artwork to delay fast page-turning, but not so much detail as to be a distraction from the story. It's the perfect length with a perfect word-to-page balance. A favorite for me, too!
