Moeller Marine, Below Deck Permanent Fuel Tank, for Boats Built Before 2011

Is this a Chinese knock-off? If this is what you consider Moeller quality....this has to be a joke!I bought this for use in a diesel boat. There are parts of the manufacturer plaque that have been chiseled off and re-stamped. The really odd thing... The manufacture blueprints note this tank was changed from 12" to 14" tall in 2014. The tank I received says made 08/01/17, but is 12". This should be the 14" tank.Something is real fishy here, and it's not coming from my boat! What gives...??

If you are using this for a diesel engine, you will need to order Moeller Part #035724-10 which is a Moeller Marine Electric Fuel Tank Sending Unit with Diesel Return Line (12" to 24" Deep Tanks). When I went to install this in my 1980 Hunter 27 I was counting hoses and the tank I was removing had four. This tank had only three. Newbie mistake, but wanted to share if anyone else is intending on doing this with diesel.

Glad to finally be able to stop lugging portable containers in and out of my boat. Came as advertised, no real complaints about the product.Only piece of advice, pay attention to the attachment method for the tank you pick. They have a "strap" type attachment (seen in my pic) and a "clamp" or "clip" style. The listings aren't super clear which one you need. I unknowingly purchased the clamps, but couldn't use them. I ended up building my own hold down straps. Side note, charging 20+ dollars for hold down straps/kits is ridiculous.

Had to replace a 32 yr old aluminum tank in my four Winn’s 160 freedom this Tank was easy to install. Shipping was super quick. The only part I wish I gave careful consideration to was the filler neck it’s vertical and I need a 90 degree bend. Don’t know it I will have an issue with gas laying in the filler neck or a slow fill issue or if there is even a way to Re Route my fuel fill line. It does not come with a 3/8 barb for the fuel feed so you will need that. I ordered the fuel feed fitting when I ordered the tank make sure it’s the anti siphon fitting. It has the spring and ball in it to prevent fuel flowing when engine is off. Some people don’t use this fitting or modify it they do go bad and should be replaced when engine is starving for fuel

Like reviewer thtguy above, I was confused by the name plate on the tank. “Diesel” has been ground off, leaving “gasoline” only. I wonder if this is simply because the tank doesn’t have a fuel return fitting? Moeller does list an optional tank level float sensor that incorporates a diesel return, but this won’t work for me because I need to use my existing Maretron ultrasonic level sensor. Good luck trying to reach Moeller with questions. The so-called customer service number listed on their website went straight to voicemail and gave a company name that wasn’t Moeller. Otherwise this appears to be a strong, well built tank. Moeller makes an amazing variety of size and shape variations to fit almost any boat. But they need to do better for diesel customers,

I am on my 3rd Moeller tank, two have had their pickup tubes disintegrate like potato chips and so did the fuel gauge. They use a tie wrap on the fuel gauge that is not fuel proof, it just becomes brittle and falls apart. Why not use submersible fuel line at $20 a foot and something other than a cheap plastic tie wrap on the fuel gauge? Also, just before I went to install I looked inside, it has pieces of plastic from the manufacturing. I had to rig a piece of tubing to my vacuum to get their production debris out. I suppose the other option is a custom aluminium tank. Hopefully I can sell this boat before #4. Two stars since they have a variety of shapes.

It's a good tank, but if your space is limited the measurement to the top of the fuel hose outlet is 11 5/8", and the top of the fuel guage sending unit is 11", and these would not be easy to modify. The filler pipe and vent pipe are 13" and 12.5", but could be cut shorter if necessary.

Item as described, tough and durable.

Worked great .. used it in my bayliner as a temporary tank .. plug in and play.
