Worth the effort of getting used to it
This small machine has made my foiled glass so much better. I always had difficulty cantering the foil but this machine makes it much easier. It does take time to get used to it but it is worth it.

Makes foiling much easier and faster.
This foiler comes with an instruction manual that is recommended reading. Adjusting it is easy, but it requires one to actually look at what is going on to make sure things are properly aligned and tensioned. Mounting it or clamping it to a table top is necessary in order to make use of it. Once it is set up, it becomes very easy to foil large quantities of glass in short order. A pair of scissors to cut the foil with and some sort of burnishing tool is all that is required. Make sure that your glass is clean and free of oil, and it is best if the edges have been ground to prevent cutting the foil. There is a learning curve, but you will master the foiler long before you run through the first spool of foil.

Very Handy Tool In The Glass Studio
What a help with my stained glass work! Facing a big project with lots of pieces to foil I opted to go with this device. It took no time at all to start getting nice, even edges. I mounted mine on a piece of scrap board so it stays put while I'm drawing the foil off the wheel. The foiler is designed to place a channel in the foil as it is drawn off the roll but I get good results without doing this. Lighter tension on the roll seems to let it play out flatly, instead. All in all, a handy device that is sturdy and affordably priced.

Great unit.
Bought this as a replacement for the one I had that was very old. My old one was the same as this one so I've got miles of experience with using it. Once you get it put together and secured it is very easy to use and makes hand foiling very simple and quick and easy. The last one lasted forever so it may be awhile before I need to buy again.

So much quicker and easier than foiling by hand
Once you get the hang of using this foiler, it works very well. I am getting very uniform results and it is much quicker than foiling by hand. The secret seems to be keeping constant pressure on the rubber wheel with the glass. My current project has all rectangular pieces so I don't have any inside corners but it does well, even on pieces as small as 1 3/4" square. There is a tendancy to catch the partially folded edges on the plastic guides that cover the wheels but with practice, it is easily avoid that problem. For someone whose eyes are not as sharp and whose fingers are not as nimble as they once were, this tool makes foiling a breeze.

Cuts so much time!
This works amazing! Great time saver. It does need to be mounted on a board for easier use. But It was easy enough to hold and use one handed the first time. I mounted it to a board to move easy and spray adhesive with some rubber shelf liner on the bottom of the board waaa laaa!
