4th Day & Wound Low-G Shows Wear (otherwise good sound)
I like the Low-G sound - this is the first time I've ever tried - and, admittedly, the Kayla Uke is new, so maybe it's the fret, but it does not feel rough to my tender fingers ;)I got these on a Saturday. I'm not a complete novice, but I don't play all that much.Making that little twangy G into a low-G turns it into something more like a little guitar.Plug it into an amp and you can wail. But four days, of maybe a couple hours total and you can see that shiny spot on the G. I predict it will not last much longer. Once the fret cuts through the winding, it's done. And why can't they make this string black to match the other three? Why does it have to stand out like a sore thumb? It's like, everything looks cool-black-sleek and then there's this white guy tryin' to fit in like Vanilla Ice or Gladys Kravitz with the Pips.

It it the correct strings?
Product doesn't appear to be the one I bought. Description in Amazon photo and product doesn't match. Not even close. I was asked by Amazon rep to "try it out" and if it doesn't work to send it back. Will update review later.

Oh, I like these.
I'm not really a fan of Nylaguts because they're really flexible and slick, to me they feel like I'm playing rubber bands. These are stiffer and have a little more traction and the low G is wound. They sound good, I like 'em.

Perfect. Love them. Best decision i made.
Love these. They look amazing on the use and they sound terrific Beautiful deep rich timbre from my Kala Koa tenor. Richer than it already was. I also love the feel of the lava series. Silky smooth and really nice touch to them. Love them.

Great sound, more volume
Sounds great and the volume increased quite a bit on my solid walnut tenor uke. I really like these strings!

Not a fan
Normally I use Aquila Reds with low G. I thought I would try these for a change and put them on my favorite tenor uke. I don't like them at all fond them very stiff, and hard to play. They have a very dull sound. I've given them 3 weeks to settle in but no improvement. I'll be replacing soon

I really like the way these strings sound
I really like the way these strings sound! They settled pretty quickly as well. I rated them a four because of the wound G string. I put the string on and tuned it and then immediately noticed a couple micro unwindings at the top and bottom of the string which makes me sad. However it hasn’t effected the sound!

Refreshing and rich, great dark grey string set.
Look and feel great. Great sound quality as expected from Aquila. The Lava look is pretty great, a deep dark greyish look.

Down low...
I was struggling with 'normal' Uke strings as they can tend to sound a little thin. The problem? Well, if you've played guitar & Tenor guitar like me you'll be missing the low string and what it can provide whilst playing. Solution? Well, a set of Uke strings which give you a low string! I stabbed in the dark slightly with these but a friend of mine who plays a tenor uke suggested a set with a low wound string, usually 'G'.These do the job and they make my tenor uke sound awesome. I use different tunings as a result too which is is great.

Unparalleled quality!... If the fit is right.
I had bought a set of these strings in the past. Despite claims they can snap easily, I have found the opposite true. Once fitted and worn in these strings work a treat and even after heavily extended use and play (over 1 year total!) they remain vibrant and unique in their sound and quality. The Low-wound G truly adds a warm and rounded pallete of sound when, compared to standard strings from trustworthy brands like D'Addario makes it feel as though something is missing when playing. Moreover, the quality of the standard nylgut seems greater also, feeling soft and fitting to the fingers. To be frank, if you want your ukulele to shine in quality I would argue there is no other option I could suggest. However, I must also urge you to be weary. My daily ukulele is a Kala Archtop Tenor, and therefore is larger than a readily available soprano, which would be a heavy factor in whether the Low-wound G will hold due to the pressure applied to the body of the instrument. Moreover other strings, while fantastic in Longevity, may suffer similarly if the size is too small.Ultimately, I cannot recommend these strings enough, but ensure your instrument is the right size.

Mooore range = mooore better!
The wound G sounds great although it can be a little restrictive depending on the song you’re playing. The extended range really shines when fingerpicking. Although probably not recommended if you like playing traditional ukulele pieces.

Disappointed
Ordered these with a low g string and expected a full set of black strings but the g is white. Also the strings look grey to me and I can't see any mother of pearl sparkle in them. Definitely looks odd on the uke, 3 grey and a white. Sound is pretty much like the set I took off, except for the low g.

So far so good
Changed my Tenor Uke's strings to low G option and the make to Aquila. Very impressed with the sound and feel of these. I didn't like the thicker gut strings i had previously as they sounded a bit too dark, these new strings are perfect.
