Versatile, holds its edge, lightweight.
I bought this axe for light usage around a campfire. I like its design and light weight. Its best use is making kindling, shaving flat surfaces to prepare for carving and meat cutting. It comes sharp from the factory, but I have honed it to a finer edge. It holds its edge surprisingly well, and I have found it quite versatile within a range of uses.

Chops with One swing! Sharp and strong!
Awesome small ax. Handle is great. Weight is heavy and chopped my real yard 1/4"- 3/8" thick branches from weed that was growing into a tree. All the branches took one chop. I couldn't believe how well it chopped it down. I was done in 15 min. I normally use an electrical cutter. This was so much easier. I have no doubt this will work on light branches in the field. If anything, it works great for landscape maintenance and that along makes this tool worthy of purchase! Very sharp from manufacturer but I sharpened it even more after I wasfi iahed. Can't wait to see what else it does!!

Light weight for camping
If you need a light weight utility hatchet, this is the best. One can always add a weight to the hole at the top if needed. The price is pretty good as well.

Was easy to control when you choke up on the handle ...
4 stars cause I haven't tested it yet.Haven't tested it's ability to hold an edge on anything other than light use but it's small and extremely handy in camping situations. Chops well for small jobs and due to its small size I find myself grabbing it and using it in place of a pocket knife or fixed blade in those "just need a quick cut" situations. Was easy to control when you choke up on the handle so it was good for food prep as well. Again, didn't cut/chop really hard woods or bones but if this thing turns out holds an edge well I'll make a nice leather holster then carry it instead of a fixed blade when camping. If it won't hold an edge, I'll have a custom one made using this as a pattern cause the design is a really nice blend for multifunction use in a campsite. Also, even if it doesn't last, I've already gotten my money's worth cause the price was so low.

It's not bad for the price.
It is definitely useful for the hardwoods that are up to an inch to an inch and a half diameter, although it still takes a few strikes to cut through the branches. When you get over an inch and a half it becomes a chore. You will need to cut chunks out of the branch until you can get the blade through the branch (or just get fed up and break it as I did). Splitting logs? Forget it.I purchase this knowing it was a light hatchet. I wanted something I can easily carry that wouldn't weigh my camping gear down. I just didn't realize the amount of work it would take to cut through some of the tinder. If I had to do it over again I would probably get something with a little more weight and length - possibly one that can split logs when I need some kindling.

Good Little Tool; Would Definitely Buy Again and Recommend
A handy little blade to have by your side. It will cut down bows and branches real easy, but isn't too great for chopping. It only weighs 11 ounces so I'm not really surprised by it's limitations though. The sheath feels pretty cheaply made, but this is a cheap axe. The blade came pretty sharp, but a few minutes with my sharpening puck and it was shaving hairs off of my arm. It holds an edge pretty well too. I used it all weekend and it's still sharp enough for me to comfortable put it back in it's sheath to stay. The back of the axe is the bees knees for ripping up ground too. I didn't bring a shovel and I needed build a fire pit, this axe tore up the ground like it was made of jello.

Best bang for the buck for hikers!
I purchased this for its size and price. I read the reviews about being dull edged, but mine in 2015 was sharp and did not need to be sharpened. I really don't use it much, but I carry it to help blaze and maintain narrow trails in the woods. It seems to be a ideal survival axe if you need small and light weight for hiking or hunting. If you are a camper, then you will want a larger, heavier ax to more easily harvest camp fire wood. If you are back packer, then this is a good buy. There are many good hatchets on the market. This was simply my choice for low cost and low weight. Study fat rubberized hand grip and a heavy canvas sheath to prevent accidental injuries from the sharp edge.

Well worth it!
This Hatchet is well worth the price, if its out of stock its worth waiting for!Its great for backpacking, camping, etc. Its extremely light at 13 ounces and razor sharp. You might think that being so light it wouldn't work very well but in fact it makes short work of most tasks. The blade on this is so sharp you will actually cut your sheath if your not careful. I've seen some comments about it dulling quickly but I have not found this to be the case. After using it several times it still has a very nice edge. This is the ONLY hatchet you will ever need!
