Cupcake Creations Magnetic Sew-On Closure, 14mm

I had to attach magnet closures on my purse, but i didn't want to spoil its material. Then i came across these sew-on closures. I liked the concept. And sewing is something i can always undo if i didn't like it. Well, i went ahead and purchased them.I liked that its the least invasive method for magnetic closures. You don't tear your fabric to make some big hole to attach these buttons.However, these didn't work as expected for my particular project. I still had to use fabric glue to make the buttons hold strongly to fabric. Stitching them wasn't enough. The threads or fabric might have torn off pretty soon with frequent snap open/close, i could feel that as soon as i opened/closed it few times after stitching. It may also be because i didn't use the back caps for support. So i might be at fault. May be next time i will try them with back cap on for support.My only other suggestion would be also introduce a version with four holes instead of two. Four point sew feels stronger than two in case of sew-on buttons.Overall, nice concept. But i would be using Basic grey magnetic snaps for future projects. They seem more versatile to me. I like the concept of the magnetic button. Haven't used them yet, but nice looking. I gave it a score od 3 only because they are much smaller than I anticipated. Good for small projects.

I purchased this item thinking that I can put closure on my leather bag. It didn't work, this item is too small.

UPDATE 1/6/13One side of the magnet set cut through the threads. That's not a problem as it stuck to the other magnetic half and didn't get lost.Although the stamped aluminum "button" half was still attached, I didn't bother with it. I just re-sowed the magnet half to the dog coat. Without the aluminum "button" I think that I was able to sow it on much better.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I say adequate to good because I wanted something much stronger. But as it turns out these are good enough for my needs and would in all probability be more than adequate for most jobs or anyone else.The 2 objects in the top of the picture are stamped aluminum back plates to keep the threads from pulling through the fabric. As such they're ok, but using buttons would be much better, and on thicker material you may need nothing at all.I have an old (16 years) Shih-Tzu. In the winter she needs a coat when we go for walks. The problem is that the only coat that she doesn't try to get out of has Velcro that is wearing thin. Has anyone tried sewing Velcro by hand? Not much fun.After sewing the magnetic buttons to the coat I found that they pull apart fairly easily (unlike when you take them out of the little bag). BUT, it worked out just fine. No problem.In the end, I like them and will buy another set.

The magnets shown in the bottom of the picture are strong. However the other metal at the top of the picture is not magnetic. The pairs DO NOT STICK TOGETHER. I can't make this stuff up.

Our tsx drivers side sun visor would not remain in the up position. Considered using Velcro to keep it in the up position. My daughter compares that sound to fingernails on a chalkboard. Used super glue to glue the snaps into position. Works great. Sun visor remains up when not needed but is easy to pull down without any teeth grinding noise.

Cannot figure out how to affix them to my clothing and if it's only one set then the price is high. The seller should have included clear instructions on how to affix to clothing. Sorry, but they are useless to me.

This magnetic snap closure is fantastic! I have used it on two knit purses, and the magnet is very strong. They never pull open on their own. I would highly recommend this product.The only catch is that they are harder to hide because they have the magnetic part and the anchor backing. The top button looking piece in the picture is the backing. because of the design, you really need some sort of backing to stabilize the magnet. I purchased decorative buttons for one of my bags and used them in place of the anchors. So far it is still holding strong.
