Poorly written and questionable content. Avoid.
This is absolutely the worst reference book I have ever read. I am a software engineer but never learned Java. I was hoping to quickly come up to speed "In a day" as the book title suggests. The book is highly rated, so I gave it a shot. What a joke. This book is filled with numerous grammatical errors and poorly written sentences that don't even make sense. The section on object oriented programming doesn't come close to explaining what that is. The examples are incomplete and half-baked. This book appears to be a first draft or outline of someone's idea about what a book like this could contain, but they never came back to finish it. How the heck is anyone giving this anything other than a single star? Whoever published this obviously didn't proof read it for content. Avoid it at all costs.

Great For Beginners
Knowing how to code computer languages has proven to be a valuable tool for now and the future. However, it can be extremely difficult to learn by yourself. Fortunately, this book does a good job of providing easy to understand instructions and descriptions so you can be on your way to being a beginner coder in no time.

codes & coffee
Another programming book for my younger brother that is a huge IT nerd and he likes it very much. He's managed to write some complex code and this book managed to get him well on his way for coding. Thanks so much for this awesome little book and hopefully we will see more advanced books in the future

Great book to practice with - just as good as some of the more expensive books
My boyfriend is currently studying Java and has been paying a lot of money for these long text books. I grabbed this book for free and gave it to him. He has read the whole book and found it to be just as helpful as some of the more expensive ones. Clear and concise information. Best to use this book while practicing programming.

because they are easy to read
After buying the SQL book, my son took it upon himself to buy this one.He has responded very well to these books, because they are easy to read. You don't have to be a professional in the field to understand these topics, and that's what makes this book great.

Great book
This can be a good publication with Caffeine programming for newbies. It gives you an abundance of types of programs toThis is a great book on Java programming for beginners. It provides plenty of examples of programs to try, and explains everything needed to understand how to use Java and implement it, including objects such as string and Boolean, the various codes that are used in Java and Javascript, variable declaration and data types, how to implement loops, and more. Unlike other programming books I have read, this one has readers in mind who have never taken any kind of programming before, thereby using simplified language. utilise, in addition to describes every thing was required to learn how to work with Caffeine in addition to implement it, which includes objects for example sequence in addition to Boolean, the different limitations which are found in Caffeine in addition to Javascript, variable declaration in addition to data varieties, tips on how to implement loops, and even more. Contrary to different programming publications I have go through, this possesses audience at heart with certainly not considered any kind of programming previous to, therefore making use of made easier words.

If you have any programming experience pass this one by
Not all that useful for a person with any knowledge of programming in any language. At least one of the examples was wrong. Sloppy.

JavaScript book, not Java
Very cursory information on actual Java. More of a JavaScript book, which is not what the title implies.

Fabulous for those new to Java or looking for quick reference recaps.
I am not a big fan of pc programming and learning pc/internet codes and languages but I do learn well from examples and that is why this book is excellent, there are so many examples. It is clear the author has a thorough working knowledge of the topic and it is put across well with many sub headings and excellent use of tables. I think this book will help both novices and those who need quick reference on the more technical details of Java and Java script. With so many of us now running our own websites and working from home, we cannot afford not to know this popular internet language.I recommend this to all, including the terrified.I am busy working my way through this book; but I can see it has all the topics I need clarity on from debugging to wrapper classes to encapsulation ie data security.

Terrible!!
I have experience of programming commercially with C/C++ and have dabbled with Java, but thought I'd like to learn it properly as it is a popular OOP language and is widely used to create Android Apps.Unfortunately I only read the first couple of reviews...This book is terrible! It is definitely NOT for complete beginners to programming as it throws in programming terminology from page one. It is basically a list of the features of the language and does nothing to explain how to use it, compounded by the fact that it is written in VERY poor English. To be honest, I wonder if the reviewers who have given it a good review in terms of its ability to teach a beginner Java are related to the author, or have inadvertently reviewed the wrong book.int main(){ ReadFirstChapter(Java); if (HappyWithBook()) { Keep; } else { Return; }}This program results in Return..To Seller!!
