My Painting Book Hundertwasser (Coloring Books)

If you love Hundertwasser what is not to love about his inspirational and encouraging little coloring book. I have used it for journal inspiration and quilt inspiration. His colors are so fun; recreating them in my own palette was joyful. Let your inner child out to play with crayons and colored pencils.

I'm so glad I found out about this artist. He's so creative and colorful that I'm always thinking how delightful a quilt would look in hisstyle with his colors. Delightful.

A great creative sparker! Not just a coloring book. This book is excellent because it tells, in easy to understand writing, of the artist and his backgound as well as his main values of life. Lots of great activities for the creative child.

There are suggested activities that were vague. not coloring pages. This book was not whatNot what was advertised. Very disappointed.

Unlike the previous reviewer, I and my 7-year-old son are both quite fond of this book. True, it is not a "coloring book" in the traditional sense, but in my opinion it is *so much more* than a coloring book and not at all a disappointment. The book has images of Hundertwasser's work and very brief descriptions/explanations, and then there is space for the child to create something similar of his own. For instance the book shows how Hundertwasser uses a lot of spiral shapes inspired by nature, and then invites the child to draw an image with spirals. Other themes are for instance friends, hats and favorite colors. The book gives suggestions for what to draw, inspired by Hundertwasser,and then allows the child to create independently, instead of merely coloring in pre-printed images. Much more satisfying and developing! We used this book to prepare for a trip to Vienna where we saw quite a bit of Hundertwasser's work, and my son was quite excited to recognize things (even color themes and shapes) from the book, and has enjoyed working with it afterwards as well. It also gave us the opportunity to talk specifically about Hundertwasser, and generally about art and artists' work. My son is not normally very artistically creative, but this book gave him inspiration to draw and explore things he probably wouldn't have come up with on his own. A very good purchase!

This provides a very basic introduction to Hundertwasser's art, which is adequate, but I was looking for something a little more sophisticated to use with 8-12 year olds.

This is a really nice little book for kids with an interest in art. It gives a nice overview of the artist and his work, illustrated buy plenty full colour photos, but the main empasis is on encoraging the reader to create there own art, taking aspects of Hunderwassers art as inspiration, It is inviting and acessible. My son is 9 and loves this book, I think it would appeal to a wide age range, younger or older children could ake different things from it.

It is a good book for inspiring creativity and using Hundertwasser as inspiration for formulating ideas but I wanted pages that I could use as quick starter activities in the classroom. I am perfectly capable of tracing these and producing my own but I was hoping to save some time. Not impressed!

Great resource to learn about this artist and explore his works and the ideas behind them. No, it isnt a colouring book but its packed full of activities to inspire children to make their own art in Hundertwasser's style.

I bought this expecting there to be a mass of Hundertwasser's works to colour in but there aren't any. It is more of an activity book. I feel the description is misleading.

Fab book for budding artists. Recommend for any child over five. Beautiful display of his paintings and great ideas for helping create your own versions
