Lent in Plain Sight: A Devotion through Ten Objects

This is a wonderful book to help all Christians celebrate the many aspects of Lent. Jill Duffield does an excellent job of incorporating every day objects and experiences into the season. The questions allow you to reflect upon your own experiences and how they relate to scripture and Christ’s messages to us.I highly recommend this for a family Lenten journey. It’s well organized and won’t take much of your day but it covers the entire Lenten season.

This book is written like short stories. Each day is a new reading. It is very easy to read, and the messages are short, to the point, and valuable. I recommend this book!

I've been searching for a book to carry with me through this daunting sacred season with its echoes of penance and demand. Lent In Plain Sight returns me to the heart of Lent: the gift of a loving God who calls to us at every turn--in the sacraments of the quotidian.

I read this book throughout Lent. Each day has a short reading and thought provoking questions. On busy days, it can be quick, and on other days you can spend some contemplating and spending time answering questions. I found the commentary very contemporary, insightful and easy to understand. The group that read it had good discussions each week.

This book is accessible, relatable and just the perfect compliment to trying to etablish a Lenten practice. Anybody can make time to read the short entries for each day, and Duffield's writing stays with you and keeps you pondering each item. This has been a wonderful addition to our congregation's Lent offerings.

Used for Lent studies with adult church fellowship. Nearly everyone was tempted to quit while reading the first couple chapters. Advice - bear with it; the rest of the book is very good. Triggered relation to personal experiences.

I'm writing this review during Holy Week, after spending each day this Lent so far with this lovely little devotional. Each entry begins with a brief scripture verse related to ordinary objects that weave each week's readings together. A commentary on the scripture is followed by a few questions for reflection. I have really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone looking to add depth to their Lenten observations.

I really enjoyed the Lent in Plain Sight book. I felt like it was a very tangible way to experience the season. The author is authentic and inspiring. Thank you.
