Most ceramic and ie crystal cartridges deliver about 250 to 500 milli volts they are HIGH impedance cartridges and DON'T require a preamp. The cartridge fitted to your turntable as supplied with it, WILL need a PHONO pre amp. The RCA connector cable plugs into the back of the Fluance turntable and then into 1) The PHONO magnetic INPUT on your amplifier OR if you have NO PHONO input on the amp you must buy a 2) PHONO magnetic cartridge PRE AMP (costs about $15 - I recommend an RIAA preamp (most bought are to that spec) Connect the leads from your turntable to the PRE AMP module and then to your AUXILLIARY (CD, TUNER, AUX) input. Audio Technica AT-VM95E or similar is a cheap balanced 20 to 22Khz cartridge and stylus (bout £50 / >$60 The slot in aluminium gripper (make sure you have the correct one) allows you to mount the cartridge easily. Use scales and the tracking guide to ensure balance and tracking is correct. Researched and decided on the Fluance. Set up easy and I have never received a product so carefully packed by a manufacturer, almost a work of art! Wow, what a difference. Really detailed, but still musical and fantastic bass reproduction. First tried it today and haven't stopped playing records. Running through a Cambridge axr 100 receiver using the receiver's built in phono stage. Pretty darned great! Everyone has their own sweet zone when it comes to sound, and this player hits mine.
