The JJC tripod can go considerably taller than the Sony, but is also a little taller to store, and the head is not nearly as smooth when tilting. So I'd say the JJC tripod is not a very good tripod if you are shooting video due to the tilt, but it is compact and can go tall, has 2 arms, a bag, has a Sony remote control, and the price is less than the Sony tripod.
