Mrs. Howard, Room by Room: The Essentials of Decorating with Southern Style Hardcover – September 8, 2015

This books provides great illustrations and examples of traditional Southern styles from formal to beach house styles. The photos make great reference points for planning your own style.

I just love the rooms in this book. I have other Mrs Howard books and have always admired the work. Design is a strange world. You can create a room that you feel like you can just walk into and feel like you would be totally comfortable in. These are the rooms in this book.

A guide to decorating room by room. Not only is it fillled with beautiful photography, but this book by Pheobe Howard also gives site specific details like tile size, how to wisely spend your budget and square footage. I actually read the entire book, captions and all.The pallet of blue and white is most common but also shown are layered neutrals and vibrant pinks and greens.It is a book you will reference for years as you build your interiors.

Written clearly without any conceit with illustrations that support the text

I purchased this and her older book at the same time and thought that the rooms presented in this book were less fussy and I preferred this book over the other. Beautiful rooms although expensive!

This book did not inspire me, but perhaps it is just a difference in taste. I prefer a more fresh, casual style with natural materials, texture and visual interest. "Room by Room" is filled with formal, and in my opinion, over-designed rooms. I realize books such as this are meant to be inspirational, but I had trouble moving past what I consider unattractive and, in some cases, boring decor. If you love mono- and di-chromatic color schemes, this book may appeal to you (note the cover photo - it is a preview of the interior). To give credit where credit is due, Mrs. Howard has achieved a well-written and organized book that contains useful information, no matter your taste.

This is a beautiful design book! Every time I look through it, I see something new. Beautiful, livable rooms by Mrs Howard!
