Fit perfectly on 2012 KLR650
Arrived just as described in a plain box with no instructions. Manual choke was a perfect match to replace the original cable choke. The final pin/valve that seats in the carb was identical. The pin/valve arrived detached from the rest of the manual choke pull and brass body that screws into the carburetor. If there is any difference or defect the original one can be installed on this new part instead of the pin it comes with. Some other reviews for similar items from other sellers mentioned the choke not staying in the position it is set. At least with this model there is a silver threaded collar (10mm) set between the brass body (13mm) and the knob you pull to open and close the choke. Tightening this 10mm collar increases the tension on the pull tab, so you can tighten it to where it doesn't move from wherever you pull the knob to, making it work just like the original choke lever on the handlebars, but of course mounted on the carb now. It is reasonably easy to reach, but not nearly as convenient as the original choke lever. Still, it does work as a fix for when you almost inevitably destroy the plastic threads holding the original choke to the carb. Some of the other reviews also mentioned trouble with the threads being too "dull" or curved instead of sharp. These were identical or slightly sharper than the plastic threads. I was able to start it with three turns by hand while trying to wobble any play out of it. I tightened it in the rest of the way with a 13mm wrench using less force than could easily be generated with one pinky finger. The amount of resistance to being tightened was what I would consider normal for a brass fitting snugly installed in an aluminum body and it was smooth all the way in, so no trouble with cross threading or any need for a die or other tools. Sorry I didn't take a video or pictures. I was a bit leery about ordering this after the other reviews but it was about as easy a fix as anything I have ever done. Total install time was about five minutes. I hope this is useful.

Threads are not properly cut
Decided to take a chance even though there is only one negative review. It looks like a nice quality part, but when I tried to install it I had a bit of trouble. Seems the threads are not properly cut however I was able to start it onto the body of the carburetor. Using a wrench I essentially cut new threads into the brass body of the choke. It’s now installed with no issues although I haven’t started the KLR yet. One thing I’ve noticed is that when you pull the choke out you have to hold out, it doesn’t hold on its own. Is this normal?Maybe the remote mounted choke from the factory has a friction system built into it that allows you to set it and leave it in one spot.Update: started the bike after several months of rebuilding and it seems to work fine.

Part did not fit
This item didn't have any reviews, but it was priced better than the choke conversion from stead engineering. I knew I had some time before needing to reinstall, so I decided to give this part a chance. At first glance, the part looks OK, but trying to thread it into the carb from my '99 KLR 650 didn't feel right. It wouldn't thread easily, and I wasn't about to force it and risk stripping the threads on my carb. If you look at where the threads start, they look too wide, and I suspect that the threads were not cut correctly. I requested a replacement instead of getting a refund, to see if maybe I just got a dud. If the next one works out OK, I'll update my review to reflect that. If it doesn't, I'll just have to spring for the stead engineering part.Update 4/19/19Amazon never sent me a replacement so I ended up buying the stead part. It fits perfectly.
