I tried a wrist brace without the metal bar in it and it worked for a little while but it still hurt. I bought this one and have been wearing it ever since, about three months now. I wear it to bed everynight and most of the time during the day. Easy to care for by sliding the metal bar out and hand washing the brace and allowing to dry. Because the metal bar goes to the middle of the palm, it makes gripping some things somewhat difficult but it's worth the trade if it makes the wrist feel better. It especially helps when I am using the computer and doing keyboard stuff.
