Great price for a great product
Ok, so at first I was skeptical; I wasnt sure a program that was under 30 dlls could really help me learn. Well, I'm glad I was wrong, these cd's really work!!! It recommends the listener to go to next cd after learning about 80% of the previous one but I honestly listen to a cd until I have learned all the conversations literally. The 3rd time I was listening to cd 1, I was answering most of the questions the instructor asks you. Overall it's a very interactive cd, you are reminded of the new words you have learned every 5 min and asked to recognize new words in sentences. I commute everyday, so these cd's are perfect!!!! Oh, almost forgot, a Filipino girl asked me if I was part Filipino because my accent was really good in Tagalog, I said no but I practice enunciation daily. She was surprised and asked if I was learning from the Rosetta Stone program. That's when I said in my mind "wow" I'm learning really well!!!!! Hope this helps!!!Dj ruba

good program
easy to use, like the informal way it works. i do this when I have a free half hour. as they tell you dont try to re-do the progrm just go through it, you will re-pete the program a few times getting better each time

Surprisingly effective
I got this for my husband who is trying to learn my native language. I have been trying to teach him but without any real structure to my method, he is not learning well enough. We were thinking of getting a more popular language program but they don't have "trial packages" like this one. This product is actually the first 10 lessons of the comprehensive Tagalog language program that Pimsleur has and my husband and I feel that he is really making good progress. Four to five lessons in, he is able to construct simple Tagalog sentences that he is able to use properly in our conversation and with proper pronunciation and accent too. He is also able to properly respond to simple Tagalog questions that I ask him just to see where his progress is. Of course, I need to say things in Tagalog slowly so he could process it but in such a short period of time, he has learned a lot. We are now planning to get the rest of the comprehensive course as soon as he's done with this package.

It really works!
I got this a few days ago. I just finished disk 1.So far it got me to really speak the language and get the accent. It focused on really basic and practical conversations one might have with someone who speaks Tagalog.I've tried Rosetta Stone before. It works, but it takes up a lot of time and requires undivided attention because it's partly visual. One always has to be looking at the screen. This Pimsleur method is all audio. When I'm tired, I could just close my eyes and still follow along with the lessons. For me, it works better than Rosetta Stone. What I like most is that I can multitask. I pop the CD into my computer and let it play. I surf the web, look at pictures, type, read a few things, all the while listening to the CD and speaking Tagalog phrases.

Very good lessons, required a lot of repeating
Very good lessons, required a lot of repeating. When I tried it with another philipino he could not understand what I was saying.

This was a great program, as I did it with Lesson 1 ...
This was a great program, as I did it with Lesson 1 on my way to work, and again Lesson 1 on my way from work, and did this each and every day for 2 weeks. By the time I finished Lesson 10, I was very happy, and I retainedabout 80% of what I had learned. I was also lucky enough to practice a bit of what I learned with some Filipinopeople at work.I would like to know if there is Tagalog Intermediate (I recommend Basic to anyone and everyone)I would like to see where the Intermediate is so I can buy that ASAP or if they do not have it,is there a plan B

feedback
Very basic for a non speaker like myself. Wish it had more conversational words and everyday conversation pieces. Good for tourist

Seria de gran ayuda que junto con los CDs se pudiera disponer de un librito. Con ello se facilitaria su apredizaje.
