desertcart.com: Practice Makes Perfect: Basic Spanish, Premium Third Edition: 9781260453492: RICHMOND, Dorothy: Books Review: Awesome Starter Book. Best I've Used! One Device of Many You Need To Learn A Language - Awesome beginner book. This book assumes you know zero spanish and when you are done you can understand present tense grammer fairly well and obtain a good amount of real world vocabulary. Each lesson teaches you one grammer topic and one vocabulary topic. Further lessons keep building on prior lessons too. I started learning Spanish 4 years ago as my job has many Latinos. Today, I am not fluent by any means but I can converse easily and hold my own well. I test at level B2 if using those youtube level videos haha. I often translate at my workplace too. This book helped me greatly with the reading, writing, Grammer, and vocabulary parts of learning a language. It is an awesome starting point but you NEED MORE! Conversing with coworkers aided alot in pronunciation and understanding. I suggest speaking with Spanish speakers (they don't care if you sound horrible, they appreciate the effort), listen to the news on Telemundo in spanish with spanish subtitles on. They speak clearly and enunciate well. Watch your favorite movies that you already know most of the words to and understand the plot ahead of time. Once I completed this book I bought the intermediate and advanced versions of this series. Very well made!!! Review: Basic and easy understanding. - To be fair I’ve been studying Portuguese prior to learning Spanish so maybe it helps a bit, but this is one of the only books I’ve been so eager to do and get through with my coffee in the morning. The lessons are well laid out and easy to understand and to check your answers with the key in the back is nice. Anything that is a workbook style of learning and rewriting the questions and answers in a notebook helps reinforces it. Update: 12/10/24 Well I’m happy to say I’ve completed this book finally; in between working on other projects and languages - I enjoyed the learning experience with this format. Admittedly I still hadn’t used the Audio portion, I just rewrote the questions and answers in more than two 5 subject spiral bound notebooks. Even wrote smaller and took notes in the margins; I was surprised when handwriting it took up so much volume. My next venture might be the vocabulary book in this series as it will expand and reinforced what I already learned in a similar fashion. (Also tip: read each sentence and answer out loud to yourself or your Latin speaking friends it helps a lot). Good luck In Short: PROS: Easy bite size sections with a kind of chapter review quiz to grasp your understanding. (Previous to this I bought the (Complete All in One) book but it was too advanced, I stepped down to this and feel my next step will be with the aforementioned. They also offer the flashcards and audio on the Language lab but haven’t used it yet, maybe will update it for review at a later date. CONS: There are some section questions that ask you to judge a statement as being true or false but some include (proper nouns) actors, singers or places that I’m unfamiliar with, thus I have to guess or skip the question. There are a lot of examples and questions but I feel there needs to be more and variety.

Easy to use & study
This book is very easy to use when studying Spanish on your own. It's comprehensive, full of great examples / short stories in Spanish to keep you entertained (at least, not bored) while studying too. I feel like my Spanish did improve quite a bit after I purchased it and used for a couple of months. I'd strongly recommend this book. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is the quality of paper (too dark for my eyes).

Great book for beginning Spanish
This book was recommended by my Spanish tutor, it seems to be working. The exercises are just right. I recommend using with a tutor or teacher though. The only bummer is that the digital app does not work on my phone, I have to be on my laptop or tablet to use the flashcards. The good thing about the digital piece, you don't have to set up an account and passwords and everything else to use it. Just click and go.

Great Spanish supplement to your language program!!!
Bought this to supplement my weekly formal and tutoring Spanish lessons. I complete a section each week that helps to reinforce fundamental concepts learned in class or with my tutor and sometimes fills in gaps or adds new vocabulary. You won't learn to speak Spanish with this book, but it's great as a supplement.

A good book to begin learning Spanish
This is a good introduction to Spanish. Each chapter presents some basic terms and grammar followed by exercises using those basics. The exercises include short translations, matching questions, writing short answers, and some true or false. The exercises include some references to current celebrities, which make it more fun. A recommended choice for learning Spanish.

Si usa Duolingo para aprender español, usa este libro también
i’m a little over halfway through this book, i’m using it alongside Duolingo. it’s been a great resource and i’ve learned a lot, it helps expand on some things Duolingo glosses over and introduces a lot more verbs/vocab. it introduces vosotros and a couple words don’t line up exactly (el camarero vs. el mesero, for example) but otherwise they mesh very well. it uses a lot of pop culture references (movie stars, sports players, book characters, etc.) so if it asks you what game so-and-so plays or gives you a bunch of clues to deduce who some famous singer is that you don’t listen to, just take it as the grammar lesson it is and be prepared to look up who they are on google if you don’t know. also, the accompanying ‘Language Lab’ app they advertise for it is not good. the book itself is really great though.

Excellent for a beginner who is doing duolingo alongside. Lots of practice is offered, and the explanations are clear. It really helped move my spanish up a notch. It is especially useful for getting to grips with the present tense

Açıklamalar anlaşılır ve basit. Temel seviye için yeterlidir diye düşünüyorum.

I'm just about to start Lesson 11 and I'm really finding this book quite helpful. I'm using it in conjunction with Rosetta Stone and I find the two really reinforce one another. This book is fantastic for explaining the concepts that Rosetta Stone demonstrates....sometimes I don't understand what Rosetta Stone is trying to show me and then this book clears it up, it's wonderful. The audio exercises are very good and helpful, I especially appreciate the recordings of the Spanish speakers that I can play and compare with my own recording to help improve pronunciation. The only complaints I could make is that sometimes there is not enough space in which to write my answer, and every once in a while an audio exercise is lacking the options for multiple choice questions, but this doesn't happen often and it's not the end of the world. All in all, I'm finding this books useful and fun, and I plan on buying Complete Spanish All-in-One when I finish this book.
