KAEZI 85 Watt Studio Light Bulb 5500K CFL Day Light.

I purchased one of the 600 watt light kits that come with 45 watt spiral bulbs, these bulbs are vastly better. Larger size (big honking bulb!) and much stronger output. I tested as follows.Ambient light was living room at night with a couple of table lamps and light in the next room on. The low ambient light better allowed me to see light range and distribution. Important measurements to me since I plan to use these to shoot group photos.Using the 33" black/silver reflective umbrella from the kit at approx. 20 ft. with ambient light requiring 1/30 second shutter speed this bulb allowed for a better evenly lighted picture across approx. 15-18 ft. at 1/60 shutter speed. The 45 watt only had about 12 ft. of reach and at that range was just barely allowing 1/50 second shutter speed.Whatever the small 45 watt bulbs can do these KAEZI 85 watt bulbs will do better.Big light on subject is better than small that is why people use diffusers such as umbrellas. The sheer size of these bulbs makes them a big light source, Brighter light is also better than dimmer so I think these bulbs are good on both these key metrics. I look forward to testing with a 60 inch shoot through white umbrella and 53 inch reflective.The 5500k color temperature of these bulbs is also very close to my flash units which I use on camera or on stands with remote trggers. This will make getting a good white balance easier than a 6500k bulb would. I have used remote triggers and flash before purchasing continuous lights and am glad I will have the option of also using the flash units at the same time as a supplement. Or as backup if a fluorescent bulb fails at a bad time.One thing to watch out for the size of this bulb puts it close to the umbrella shaft, umbrellas bounce a bit when moving the stand. I would advise using care to make sure the shaft does not smack the bulb and possibly break it when moving stands around.So a triple win. Big, Bright, and color temp matches flash units. Only thing left is bulb life and if they fail in the first few months I'll update the review.

I just got these today. They are well packed and all look to work right. I purchased them to replace the 45 Watt bulbs in my Reflecting Umbrella photography lights because the 1 x 45 watt is ridiculously low. You have to practically stand directly in front of the light. Just never been bright enough. These are VERY bright and that's great but WARNING. These bulbs are about Double The Physical Size of the 45's and barely fit the stands I have. They screw in properly, but the stem of the umbrella is a fixed distance and the bulb actually touches it. They don't heat up fast and I think it will be OK for my use...short durations. But be aware of the size if you are moving up for wattage. In my photo the original bulb that came with the kit is on the left.

Unsatisfied with the lighting power of the 45 watt kit light bulbs, I decided to invest in one of these 85 watt bulbs. I was initially undecided about getting this ones or the 105 watt ones. Finally I decided to go with the 85 watt ones considering the good reviews and price. And I'm glad I did.This light bulb provides a much brighter, powerful and clearer white light than the 45 watt option. The light is good enough that I can light up almost my entire basement with a single bulb. I am considering getting another one to use in my garage.Here is my list of pros and cons:Pros:- Strong and powerful light.- Bigger light. Has more reach.- Very pure white.- Good materials.- The box that it comes in is very good and keeps the light bulb safe.Cons:- The light bulb is very big and might be difficult to use with some modifiers such as softboxes.

I was at our local pro shop lately and was prepared to shell out $42 per bulb for 4 of these, needed for a larger photo stage to shoot pump motors for a local client. I cringed at the thought of spending $170 for 4 of these bulbs and thought I had no choice. Then I found this company on the net and thought it must be a mistake on the price of $15 per bulb. I ordered 4 and they arrived in perfect condition, packaged VERY well and the free shipping only took 5 days to reach me. I tested the bulbs and they all work and put out the quality and amount of light I needed in a soft-box set up. I'll buy 4 more to max out my setup and have spares in the event one gets broken. I highly recommend this source for these otherwise overpriced items. The price is right and the quality is exceptional.

I picked up a set of these for my Linco Flora light and they arrived today. I hooked them up and did some test photos. Per the light meter in my camera (Sony a57), it reads about 6000K with 3 bare bulbs in a silver umbrella off of a whitecard, so a little cooler than the quoted 5500K. (For the record I tested some other "5500K" labeled bulbs and they also measured 6000-6100K, so it could be my camera itself)As others have commented, these bulbs are rather large, so won't fit in most household fixtures that have any sort of harps or containers. If you're buying these for photographic use (their intended purpose), I think you will find them to be an affordable way to put a lot of light on your subjects. Given that they are coiled spirals and not spot lights, they really need some sort of umbrella or other cowling to redirect the lateral light forward.They do put out a bit of heat after they have warmed up, so I would not leave them on more than necessary in an enclosed softbox. I let them cool off for about 5 minutes before putting them back in their styrofoam holders. Be sure to grip them by the base not the glass when inserting or removing them.I will post a followup sometime after I've been able to use them in an actual shoot and see what the final images look like.
