I have them on all of my underfloor hot water heating zone valves. It is just a LED (Light Emitting Diode) with a resistor to drop the Voltage to 0.72 Volts across the diode. If it is connected to AC, then it is only on half the time because a diode is a rectifier which only passes current one way. My LEDs put out less light on 24 Vac, but for my application I just want to know if the zone valves are still operating correctly; so, I do not need lots of light. **Q: Should the resistor in the ground wire be removed for 12 volt use?** A: I did not make any changes to the product before installing in a 12 volt system. **Q: The picture shows presoldered wire leads... how long are those?** A: I have 4 of these that measure between 6.1" and 6.2" from the base of the LED housing to the tip of the wire.
