RoadPro RPTT-1 Wooden Tire Thumper, 19-Inches, Assorted Dark or Light Wood

Product was used for checking tires on tractor trailer tires,a total of 18 tires every time I DROP AND HOOK A TRAILER. Tire thumper broke in half today leaving me to have to find other methods for checking tires. I WOULD NOT recommend this product after all.I thought this would stand up to commercial use but i was wrong.

This is a great gift for any guy/gal. Not only can you use it to check your tires but it would make a great self defense tool while on the road. This fits perfectly in my drivers side door panel for easy access. The copper filled head is just enough counter weight to get a good whack on your tires. I bought the darker color of the two and am pleased with the finish and over all great craftsmanship. The handle has great grip and a leather strap that makes it very hard to drop or to take it away from the user. A solid product and a good buy. Worth the $20! Buy it for yourself or for a gift. I'll be buying a few more for Christmas gifts this yr.

These use to be a good product, but they changed the wood to something cheaper and now everyone one we have bought for our trucking company has broken. I have bought 40 in total and will never buy another again. 5 of the last 5 all broke in less than a week.

Well, this unit is good for the intended purpose, thumping tires for a quick check. It is a bit large than I was expecting, but serves the purpose. I mean, it is simply a piece of wood turned round and finished.

We had a bump in the night a few nights back where some drunk kids were tossing balls against our walls at about 4 in the morning. Before realizing the situation, I ran downstairs, adrenaline pumping, in my pajamas, while armed with my...fire extinguisher. Within about 30 seconds I realized there was nothing to worry about, but I thought that it was time to have a more proper home defense weapon.This tire thumper is just what I was looking for. The solid copper weight at the end of the bat gives the bat more momentum when swinging. The short leather strap fits snugly around the back of your hand (it's not meant to go around your wrist), adding to security in case someone tries to wrestle it from you or you get a bit to enthusiastic when testing tire pressure. It's just the right size to give you adequate reach while one-handed. I'd much rather use this than a standard baseball bat which would be clumsy indoors, especially two-handed.I suggest buying a few of these and keeping them throughout your house or in your car. I also suggest keeping your fire extinguisher right next to your home defense weapon. Fires are much more common and take more lives each year than robberies. But it's important to have both fire and security protection in the house.Let's hope this never has to be used, but like my dad used to say, "hope for the best, plan for the worst".

I love this thing. I use it for two purposes. One I drive semi-trucks, so I use it as a tire thumper, and two I use it for protection. My co-workers always give me a hard time, because it looks like it could do some damage. People never assume that I would drive a semi truck, and while it's nice that people want to pull over and help if they see a woman broke down, or I may need to pull off if I need to fix something sooner than my next exit will be, it can also be a little scary at times because you don't know who you're being approached by. I do wish we had a choice of colors though, because I didn't receive the color I was hoping for, but I can guarantee when it helps me catch a bad tire before going out, or if someone tries to hurt me, I'm pretty certain color won't be a factor at that time.Revised :I still love this tire thumper. The reason I'm revising this is because I noticed where a few people asked if they would get in trouble for having it in their car. I live in Missouri, and I carry this in my backpack because the truck I drive is driven by other people that work in the company too, so I don't want one of them to take it. They all have their eye on it because they like it. Anyway as I said I carry it in my backpack, and I've had police officers see it and they've never given me grief, but maybe it's different state by state.

Nice looking but soft wood, poplar? pine?, not a hardwood by any means as stated in some reviews. First one received was chipped in several places and was replaced by Amazon and it looked fine, yet again, no density to it and it will easily chip, dent, if you drop it, use it, store it etc. Stamp indicates Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, yet UPC label clearly states " Made in China" There are a couple of others out there Ken-Tool, Ozark, that I have ordered since, and the is no comparison as to density, rigidity etc. Again, it looks nice, but if function and durability are of concern, I would look elsewhere. In short, if I wanted to intentionally snap this in two on a garage floor, it would be a piece of cake, the other makes mentioned, would prove very difficult.

I had problems with my first order. IT came damaged but Amazon took care of it right away and I got a replacement right before Christmas. So I have to say I was impressed wtih Amazon. They were so fast! The product itself was a little lacking. I thought. It was smaller and lighter than expected. I gave it to my brother whom I purchaced it for in the first place. He just got his CDL and I thought he would enjoy it for his future jobs. He did love the gift and thought it was great. So maybe it is as it should be for the product, I just thought it could of been a little heavier and more solid.
