Insulin Poured Out All Over Syringe
I really wanted these to work and for all of the reasons in the other reviews. Clean, covered bottle top, and the ability to get all of the insulin out without bending the needle when the bottle is nearly empty. So I read the directions; popped the blue top on the insulin bottle and when I inserted the syringe and turned it upside down, insulin started pouring out all over the syringe. My cat only uses 4 units twice a day, so I figure I lost about two week's worth of insulin this morning. Don't know if I did something wrong, the directions were simple enough...Well, if anyone can help me figure out if I messed up or can confirm that these caps don't work, I would appreciate it. I am not willing to give it another try because insulin is too expensive to watch spill all over the counter. Very disappointed. I might revise this review if I can get one of the caps to work but, for now, I have to give *ONE* Star...UPDATED: November 5, 2010: Okay just started using with a *Brand New* bottle of insulin two days ago and used the "Orange" instead of "Blue" cap that didn't work the first time and it appears to be working fine this time. My original problem might have been using a used bottle of insulin that had multiple piercings from the syringe through the membrane at the top of the bottle. Not able to say for sure, but it does seem likely since it's working like a charm on a brand new bottle. So I will update my rating to 4 Stars ****; not 5 because the instructions should have forewarned not to use with an open bottle of insulin, but a brand new one with no previous holes in the top.

Show and Tell
I've been using them for about a year now. Wonderful! I have given some to diabetic friends. The move toward insulin pens probably are cutting into the market share on these, but I still use a vial for my Lantus. I took the Lantus vial with the InsulCap on it, and a needle clipper that I also love, to my Endocrinologist on my last visit for Show and Tell. He showed some interest, but his PA was just tickled pink! She'd never seen anything like it. Loves the idea of clipping the needle off to minimize risk of an accidental poke. Even she wished she had something to keep the dust or whatever off the top of the vial. I will be purchasing more when I need to replace these. Oh, BTW. I noticed that after a couple of vials the fit seemed to be loose, but it still stays on the vial, and that's what I'm after.

indispensable
Expensive for a couple pieces of plasic. Indispensable for daily use. The caps protect the bottle seal from contamination in my typical use. It's easier to fill syringe because the cap "holds" the bottle (because the syringe "fits" in the cap). Easier to identify which bottle is which. Note: you have to be very careful to put the right bottle on the cap when replacing a bottle. Also it is possible to slightly bend the needle if you insert the needle well off-center and push it all the way in. In actual use this has not been a problem. Also, it is easier to get the last drop out of the bottle because the needle only clears the rubber bottle seal by a short amount and the bottle is held fairly solidly by the cap-to-syringe fitting.

Nice Fit
This cover fits the insulin very nicely. It allows the needs to fit very nicely and at a proper depth. It also keeps the cover of the insulin clean.

Works great!
Needed a way to hold the insulin bottle, w/o bending the sryinge needle. This cap does exactly that. Works with both types of syringes.
