Great leverage
Father is 80 and has arthritis. He loves to make items from leather. This has mechanical advantage so his arthritic hands can still use it.

well made works perfect!
This took is well crafted, not a pc of import junk. I was able to go through very thick belt leather with ease, and made a perfect hole in just the right spot, with no issue. I may only use it a few times, but, ill have it for a lifetime.Steven

Prepare to inspect and/or return...but a great tool
Three. THREE times I ordered this product and incredibly all three were damaged/defective and had to be returned. Chips, dings, and cracks in various size punches (generally 2, 3, and 4). These are the same punch made by Sprenger that is sold in other places, just packaged bare on cardstock rather than in a box. I don't know if these are some mystery B-grade or what, but I couldn't believe that all three were bad. Clearly the tempering on the punches is being left a bit too hard. I almost bought a pair of the cheapie china knockoffs but decided to buy the black/grey Sprenger (original) for unfortunately a lot more money from another seller here (search for "germany sprenger hole punch" and it should come up, since it seems to hide from general search results). Glad I did.It is a beautiful tool and extremely easy to use even on multiple layers of tougher or thicker leather (and it works fantastic on various foams, too, although deformation will make thicker foams harder to get a great looking hole). Don't use these for paper and I don't think I'd use them for felt, either, unless maybe you pad the anvil with something first. As long as the punch is sharp and clean, the compound action of these will make you wish you'd spent the money on a pair years ago. They are SO much better than any of the typical punch pliers - as long as you get one that is not defective. The punches are not replaceable - seems to be mixed advice there but they are not. If you could get them, you'd need a way to press them in accurately without damaging the cutting edge, but they don't even seem to be available.Anyway, take your chances on the red Weaver or just order the original black/grey...it's a fine tool, glad to have it.
